UCF C Matt Lee Transfers to Miami

I know some of you are down on certain aspects of Miami's recruiting, especially with the transfers (missing out on DTs and WRs for example)...

But I have found Mario's portal approach to be a little more surgical this year than last year where he was taking on anyone who can give him a rep in a game...the focus is a little clearer.

Getting a starting OL like Cohen was a high priority...a set it and forget it, plug n play guard or tackle. The immediate need to upgrade center was another one...getting Matt Lee after we offered one other center - that went elsewhere - seems again, more surgical. He's a plug n play starter at center...a real weakness on our roster for years and was one of the major weaknesses last year as well. This is a good pickup. The kind of player that wants to take the next step because he's likely got pro aspirations. The kind of guy that really excels at Miami, especially as a portal jumper.

Lee is a great addition. Much needed and plenty of eligibility remaining.

That’s a 7-5 line right there.

Only Cooper is physically imposing. Cohen is good, but he’s not going to **** you up on every down.

Okunlola and Mauigoa at least have the potential to do that.

Miami can’t continue to roll out the same G5 level scrubs and expect to win the ACC.
It’s probably a 7-5 team with that line, but the line itself is definitely better than 7-5.

Zion is a skilled LT with a high-ceiling, Rivers is absolutely good and imposing, and it’s reasonable to expect Lee and Cohen to be above average at the ACC level.

If you wanna question the availability of Zion or the health of Rivers then I hear you, but if they’re starting I’m presuming they’re healthy and that is definitely a good OL.

those are the OL coaches.
I thought about that, but we've seen two photos from the visit so far.

  1. He wasn't in the photo with all the coaches (including the defensive coaches)
  2. He wasn't in the photo with the offensive coaches and/or OL coaches. Since Gattis makes up 40% of the offensive staff (OC and WR), hard for me to be sure which it is. Guess its a glass half-empty or half-full thing. Depends on your perspective.
But if its true that they had TVD fly back early to be at Lee's visit, it is indeed odd that the OC isn't visible.

He’s not more talented then Francis which was the entire point
Sorry but you don't bench rivers for Francis I understand the talent thing but it takes time to develop that talent especially in the trenches. Rivers is an NFL talent he's not going to just hit the bench

Nfl talent? Rivers might not even get drafted and he is also coming off another injury. He might lose his spot

Its been way better than last year. Less reaches for sure. We will find out what actually happens when the games start but 4 of the guys we got should be starters.

IDK, Zion and Rivers are both going to be coming off knee issues. Are either of them going to even participate in spring ball?

Not sure how you pencil them in as starters without knowing their health situation....

I'll give you the injury because who knows if he will even be able to Compete this spring.

Big pickup. Center was a need position. We should be able to piece together some sort of solid line next season. I still think they’re going to go with Zion and Cohen at tackle and let the two kids fight it out for the guard spot opposite Rivers

Rivers is coming off a knee injury Is why I had Francis starting. We will see

We do have Zion, Samson, Francis, Mccoy, maybe even Mclaughlin if he puts on weight
Is Chris Washington moving on? I heard last offseason they thought he had a high ceiling but he had to add weight or something.
Anyone?

Bueler?
Bueler?

Clark and fight for his job. That’s how real schools operate. They recruit over guys every year and let kids battle. Also depth. No one deserves a starting spot off last years team besides Kam and that’s it
I love that mentality!!! If we are giving Kam a starting spot, I also think Mesidor might be worthy as well. He was **** solid when he was healthy and in the lineup.

Question:

What happened to the center from Columbus a couple years ago he was highly rated center, I think his name Rodriguez ?

GOCANES

He is still on the roster but I believe he is buried beneath the rubble of Stanford Tower.
