We've hit our targets pretty well at WR. Didn't get Keys but Wingo, Spafford and Paris are all big recruits.

Who knows how any of these guys will turn out, but Lopez is not scrawny. Strong build. I'd also argue that he's the best overall athlete in South Florida given that he's a true prospect in both sports.

I'd put him in the Toney and Restrepo family. Every time he's in a competitive setting, he wins.
Russell?

i mean basketball is a factor which is why nc state almost got him as well..cj is going to cuse..these guys believe they are legitimate bballers and they are on the hs level...cj russel was a athlete/player of the year last year.
I thought this was obvious, Jai isn’t giving a 1 of 15 spot to Lopez and/or Russell. Even if football wins a title, Lucas is fired if hoops doesn’t become a contender.

FSU/Cuse are fighting for relevancy in both sports so good NIL bang for buck on both programs to sign.

putting lopez and toney in the same sentence... and we wonder why guys like lofton had unrealistic expectations after spring. good lord.
I think you're missing what @DMoney is saying. He's saying he's competitive and uber-productive. Those guys produce at the college level. See Restrepo. It doesn't mean he'll have an immediate impact or be an NFL guy, but wherever he goes, he'll be productive and a key contributor.

I've watched the kid play in person a lot and seen the others mentioned here as well. That kid will not play at miami. There's a reason he's committed to FSU and not being chased by LSU, OSU, Oregon etc. Kids like that are D1 caliber and fine but this program should be getting higher caliber athletes. His ceiling is set before he even steps on campus due to his limitations. Miami could have had him months ago if he really was this "productive and key contributor" that we couldn't afford to miss on. Just because hes productive at a local school doesn't mean he belongs at miami.

I have no opinion on him one way or the other. I don't watch HS film! So I won't argue whether he warrants an offer.

That said, and we see it with Toney, who's got a slight build and likely runs a 4.5, WRs without measurables produce. In fact, and maybe @DMoney can drag up his post, but I think he posted about good WRs having higher than expected 40 times. A lot of the sub 4.4 guys are track guys masquerading as WRs. I'm personally more enamored with body types on the lines, less so at WR.

Just don’t understand how this kid is taking FSU seriously.. he must be going full Basketball, cause that whole program is in the ****’er

You’re almost there. Keep going. It’s not hard to figure it out. Lol
🤣 oh for sure I know that’s a factor. With all the players they are losing and can’t recruit.. he’s probably getting can’t turn down money from those losers

Maybe he's watched the first couple games for the bball team and sees some potential for success there

Gunna bite us in the *** taking spafford over Lopez

No it won't if you have seen Vance play you wouldn't make that statement, he has come down to South Florida on many occasions and burnt the players in camps his speed is unreal and he gets in and out of his breaks so fast, good luck to Lopez but we are good.
Please say it louder for those in the back.

I'd say a kid who is a legitimate D1 hoops player and dunking with two hands in halfcourt is a high-caliber athlete.

Then why isn't he getting recruited by top level programs that know WRs like OSU, Oregon, LSU etc? Hes committed to FSU for a reason... and miami could have had him months ago if they wanted him. But yea lets stir the natives up on "missing" on a kid cause he can "dunk with 2 hands in the half court". Lol.

He is focused on playing both sports. I think that limits him. FSU has done the best job recruiting him in basketball.

South Florida is down this year. Even the highly rated guys like Calvin Russell, Derek Cooper and Dia Bell have more question marks than usual. I think this is a good year for a national focus.

I just know that basketball background and high school production are very predictive for WR success. Lopez checks both boxes emphatically. I’ve seen him step up against STA, American Heritage and Chaminade’s national schedule. At the Miami Under Armour Camp, Lopez routed everyone up with ease.

I like our receiving class. But I think we’ll regret it if this guy is making plays in another uniform.
