Tre Johnson to the U

Definitely has the size and strength to play. Developmental prospect but at least we are working with something here. I actually like him better than the other lineman we were pursuing in Tatum and niang

He's extremely raw but at least he's a 6'8 300 pound raw prospect, not a 6'2 fat slob like Joe brown.

You just couldn't help but trash a 20 year old kid. Meanwhile you're ripped I'm sure.

If Golden or Radio signed kids like this and Martin they would be skewered by this board for getting sloppy seconds.

At least call it the same way every time folks.

For a coach that supposedly is going to do better here b/c of an upgrade in talent from UGA, he isn't landed upgraded talent.

2 totally different issues. When you have 1 month to fill a class you do your best to bring in the best bodies you can - and in this case Martin had already been recruited by Kool at an Mizzou and Johnson had a handful of decent offers. The issue with Golden and crew was their evaluations of guys early in the process (in their camps especially) that turned out to be total wastes of space.

Also some of their last minute "fill the class" guys actually worked out decently (most recently Redwine, Joe Brown, Corn Elder, and in even in their first class Olsen Pierre, Dallas Crawford). Sometimes it didn't work out (Jawand Blue, maybe Knowles last year) but their big issues weren't the guys they took to fill the class at the last minute, it was the guys they evaluated and locked up early at their camps and totally missed on.

Maybe because us smart people knew that he wouldnt get developed under those 2.

And who's fault is it that Richt has to scramble to find an OL after having none committed when he got here?

Yes, if he's still signing these guys next year that is an issue. But he won't, because his recruiting suggests he gets top 10 classes every year with elite talent instead of a class full of reaches.

Stop it with the Gorlden comparison.

They wouldn't be skewered for doing it in a transition class. Golden got praised for landing Thomas Finnie and Dallas Crawford. Finnie liked to steal and Crawford should've stayed at RB. When Richt develops a track record of having his lower rated recruits bust out the reactions will change. When the best DL coach in the country goes after a recruit and gets him to commit to two different schools in the same cycle people will look at it favorably. You be trolling so my response is probably more measured then it should be.

The fan base was extremely optimistic when Golden took over. We gave him pass after pass (including his 1st recruiting class, and even 2nd). It was only after years of failing that the fans started "skewering him." Why would it be any different for Richt?

Innocent until proven guilty.

Good depth guy. Save the spots for the American heritage OL Donaldson and one more.

Eh, last second dice roll on a kid with ideal size. I'm indifferent.

Richt will throw his weight around for OL in '17 when he's got a full cycle to identify/recruit.

not only is it the time factor involved for richt and co, but, when you have coaches who can actually take a 2 or 3 star with potential and coach them up into a starter, you give them the benefit of the doubt. when golden or shannon takes a 2 or 3 star and they have zero ability to coach them up or run good schemes, then, they remain 2 stars.

The big difference between Golden/Radio and Richt is summed up in two words: Track record. If you are too blind to see it we con't help you.

Track record of badly underperforming you mean, with more talent than the class he's bringing in.

I don't know what to make of his tape, but I love his size and alleged athleticism (he plays basketball). Hoping Richt and Searles know the 3-stars better than Golden and Kehoe.

Feeling good ruining a thread about welcoming a new recruit? Go take your negativity and doubts about Richt somewhere else.
