SMFH another potato with the recruiting nonsense.

This isn't a chicken or egg thing anymore guys. You have to hire a guy who can win with what you have. If he does, recruits line up. It's not that complicated actually.

If you reread what I said, that's pretty much exactly what I said in different terms. You need a coach that can get the talent together, not a non-major conference coach.

wtf do you mean get the talent together? Do you mean recruit? If Tom Herman came here and we are scoring 50 points a game, we will have any recruit we want. Do you not understand this?

So you expect Miami to drop 50 on Clemson and FSU with Tom Herman as the coach? You're thinking unrealistically here. He's dropping 50 on the Tulane's of the world, not the ACC.

And at Miami his talent level would be ten times what he has at Houston, immediately.

And I don't know about FSU and Clemson, but he'd crush every other horrible team we play, IMMEDIATELY.

You're overstating the lack of talent he has. He's been handed the guys who didn't make the cut to play for Alabama and Texas A&M. These guys aren't slouches. It's like the Cal of Texas.

He dropped 34 in a win at Louisville with AAC talent.

And Fuente dropped 37 on Mississippi who just held Sumlin and A&M to 3 pts.

These guys are both great offensive minds.

I think this is an opportunity to re-sign Golden at a more competitive rate. We'll use the extra money to bring in Cristobal as the assistant HC and HCIW.

Is it me or do all the potential candidates seem like duds outside of Butch?

It's just you.

There are much better candidates this cycle.

Maybe so, but I still think Miami requires a different type of coach. Can't stomach another hiring of a non-major college coach who has to compete with Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, the Carolina schools to get players. There's nothing like recruiting Florida.

The same UF school you're afraid of trying to compete against with Group of 5 HC (Fuente or Herman) just hired its HC from the Mountain West Conference.

Actually, his offense scored 42 on ALABAMA and 42 in the National Championship game in last years playoffs with a third string QB. I think his offense will be alright against Clemson or FSU

Ok donnybrah, just come on out and say what you want to. Instead of trashing Herman, Fuente, and Pagano, just come on out and say you want Mario as HC b/c you and he both hate Fidel. Go on it's ok, we already know.

I'm not trashing Pagano and I certainly don't want Mario as HC if Miami can help it. I want someone who's going to excite the program again and have some backing doing it. Someone who's already done this. Butch is the guy. Can't help but say it, BoT needs to let him in.

No issue with what Herman and Fuente do. They are the same situationally as Golden. Not a big team, got success, pretty decent coaching pedigrees, hired and then what happens?

When did Golden coach under Urban Meyer or Gary Patterson?
When did Golden win a national title as a coordinator?
When did Golden coach in a BCS level game???

FFS I don't think Herman or Fuente are infallible coaches, but they have accomplished so so so so much more.

Exactly . People want Urban after UF and Saban after Lsu .Not while they're at Bowling Green and Toledo.

They want a sure thing but those guys cost 5-6 million a year.

Fuente is a star in the making , same guys will be wanting him once he takes another job and balls out.

McElwain's from Missoula, MT. How can he possibly relate to the gold-toofed Florida savages that only respond in grunts and snorts?

Accomplishments as assistants. Not as head coaches. I don't give a rat's *** what they accomplished under someone else. I want to hear about what they did as the head coach of a team that plays in a big conference and what they do to bring in talent and how they fill stadium seats.

DMoney good writeup. You mention the next coach has to understand south Florida guys but isn't a unique quality. Good coaches understand the types of players that go to their schools and design a system that works best for them. Look at Baylor and TCU who are winning with guys that didn't get recruited by Texas, Oklahoma and LSU. A lot of these guys are smaller but very fast and the coach puts them in position to be successful. It is why Yearby is a bad fit for our offense but would do much better in an offense that doesn't run him through tackles but rather get him the ball more in space or does a better job at spreading out the defense.

Last, I don't think Golden failed because all of these South Florida guys went to other schools. Frankly we got good enough players Golden just had no system for them to be successful. Sure we missed on Amari Cooper but we had Phillip Dorsett, Clive Walford and Stacey Coley. How would those guys have been had to played for Art Briles? South Florida typically produces smaller but faster athletes who aren't used to play complex schemes and therefore we should have offenses and defenses that take advantage of that instead we have the opposite.

Ohio State hasn't had nearly the same offense without Herman and Cardell Jones is riding the bench because he hasn't been half the QB he was when Herman was coaching him

I don't know, bro. He didn't have those S. FL recruiting ties, bro. How'd he kick the **** out of Folden in S. FL the last recruiting cycle being from Colorado State?

So basically for donny we need Jimbo, Les Miles, or Jimmy Johnson? Is that it?

Tom Herman is undefeated as a HC. After proving to be not a good, but ELITE coordinator.

I mean Chip Kelly would my number one choice but Tom Herman is a stud.

Don't forget the offensive pieces that were drafted from Ohio State. Cardale got the job because he was a junior and he was deemed to be more experienced.

Walked in and took them from a class in the 90's to a top 25 class.

I'm just not totally willing to hire anyone that isn't Butch at this point. Might be a mistake for my point of view, just want to see results and I want to see Kaaya be successful.

Big question. What kinda defense Herman and Fuente plays? That's my main concern with any coach.
