You can blame Don Chaney all you want for this stunning loss tonight to Georgia Tech. The reality is that he never should've been put in that position that eventually lead to this this stunning 23-20 defeat at Hard Rock Stadium.

There are a lot facets to this game that can be dissected. From Tyler Van Dyke doing his best Vinny Testaverde-in-the-Fiesta Bowl impersonation, to the usual dubious officiating, to Kam Kinchens jumping a route needlessly on the game winning touchdown to Christian Leary with just seconds left on the clock.

This is on Mario Cristobal and the rest of the staff. This is on them, first and foremost

The game -- which was a struggle from the very beginning -- was basically in hand. Miami had rallied to take a 20-17 lead in the fourth quarter, had the ball, and churned out a couple of first downs in the final minutes. And with under a half-minute to go, the Yellow Jackets had no timeouts left. At that point in time there was no need to do anything other than get into 'victory' formation and take knees.

It's among the safest, simplest and most effective plays in the game.

For some reason, the decision was made to go into shotgun and hand the ball off. You do that, and you are 5-0.

There's no other way to say it -- it's among the dumbest and illogical coaching decisions I've ever seen. It's the kind that sucks the soul out of a team. The Hurricanes are 4-1, but this feels like more than just a singular loss. This is exactly the type of foible that Oregon fans have been harping on. That for all the great things Cristobal does in leading and building a program, his game management was subpar, and would inevitably lose a game or two every season.

How can we argue at this point?

No, I am certainly not calling for anybody to be fired, but on a night that was supposed to be another momentum building night in front of a host of blue-chip recruits in a prime time setting, this opportunity was... fumbled away.

Now, they go into Chapel Hill to face a North Carolina Tar Heel squad that seems to be putting things together, and then a still tough and physical Clemson squad. What had been such a fun, promising season, now, feels so much different. Like nothing has truly changed. It leaves you wondering just how the team will react moving forward.

What took place tonight, actually feels worse than last year's 5-7. I want to make this clear, I'm a Cristobal supporter (still am, even after tonight). But what took place tonight is indefensible.

This is on him.

i don't even know how it's possible to still be a cristobal supporter after tonight. and i was someone who had been staying pretty even keeled and patient even through last year. this is a program-altering way to lose a game. it wasn't "basically" in hand- IT WAS IN HAND. you kneel and you win. it's the worst coaching blunder i've ever seen in my life, no hyperbole. it doesn't feel worth it to follow a team led by someone even capable of that.

I’m off the Mario bandwagon, he’s proven time and time again his a corch and unless he has and builds a supreme talent advantage we will always be middle of the pack.

This loss was inexcusable on all levels and all he has to do was the simplest of calls, kneel on the ball. You hit the nail on the head this is a L on the schedule but soooo much more.

The wheels could very well fall off the next two weeks because we laid the biggest egg of them all against a team that lost to Bowling Green last week.

He is a corch and that’s just the facts. I’m starting to feel we will never be back and losses like this don’t help quell that feeling.

Get Tyler Van Rubels tf out of my face. We drop 40 even if Kirby was the QB. Dues were open for days even with Dawson calling a vanilla O and he kept ****ting the bed. If I was Guidry I would demand a benching or say I’d resign because only his ******* unit showed up to play today.

Even him being the most humble person after this will not win me back.

Oh btw **** Mario for not taking a knee and not bringing in competition to beat out that loser QB

How can you be a Cristobal supporter? We went 5-7 last year and blown out a couple times, fires everyone and hires new coaches only to see incompetence! There is vast research that Cristobal is not a head coach, as you cannot blunder games with decisions not even HS coaches make!

This was incompetence at its best, demoralized a team for the rest of the season! Everything that was gained is being drained by his weak decision. Making!

His credibility will be made or lost over the next 2 weeks!

Are we sure Dawson is still calling of vanilla offense? Is he going to open the playbook next week? Or versus Clemson? Or at FSU?

After tonight’s performance I think we run a vanilla offense because we have a vanilla quarterback. TVD had all day the pocket and still forced the ball into his first read many times. Usually reliable Restrepo.

A ridiculous night.

Sadly, predictable?

My drunk observation from tonight's game.

**** the refs, poor game officiating.

Tvd played like *** tonight, stared down receivers or receiver and was very late with throws hence all the int.

I belive they didn't have any timeouts towards the end, why didn't we just kneel the ball? I also believed his elbow was down but we knew we weren't getting the call

what an embarrassment in front of all those recruits

Goodnight
