**When asked if there’s any chance Gerald Willis becomes eligible to play this season, Golden said, “I don’t think so. We are not counting on that. Just trying to get him indoctrinated and inclimated with what we want to do and how we want to do it.”

Al really means "We have to castrate him first"

You missed the best part check it out at the 4:31 mark. "And it gets difficult coming in when he came, we got to get him the structure discipline, the LOVE, the UNITY, and everyone surround him to make him better"

This guy is killer with a mean streak and Golden is trying to make him sing Kumbaya. This is why our team is SOFT, it takes on the personality of its coach. Golden needs to be boy scout camp counselor and not a coach.

"Golden likened the teams positions to Noah's Ark. 2 of everything."

This dude is so smitten with himself, it's comical.

all you guys who twist yourself up in knots every day over golden doing the same thing as every other coach in the history of football (talking positively about his team in the preseason) should find other ways to occupy your time

I know it's early, but this is shaping up nicely.

One thing is for certain. These guys have really committed in the off season. From everything I've read and heard in interviews the whole team is in great condition, there is tremendous leadership, excellent chemistry, and talent at every position throughout the 2 deep.

You have long time observers Zagacki and Bailey Jr., saying this team is extremely talented, conditioned, and driven.
We have a franchise qb.
We have Chad Thomas saying this is going to be the best defense in the country.
We have 6 good, with the potential to be great receivers.
A stable of good/great rb's.
10 O lineman.
2 deep on the d line and linebacker.
Howard, Burns, Elder at CB with Bush, Jenkins, Crawford, Carter at safety.

The haters are going to hate no matter what happens, but at the end of the year, don't be surprised if this team shocks everyone with how good they are.

You seem like an optimistic dude and I hate to ruin that but you have clearly been sipping the off season Kool-Aid.

First, when have you known anything but positives come out of off season camp, esp. from this crew? Using Joe Z and DBJ as source to inspire confidence doesn't give credibility to the claim of having a better season. They are paid UM broadcasters that are never going to say anything but positives, esp. in the offseason.

Next, I would expect any athlete to believe they will be the best at what they do regardless of its validity. So Chad Thomas saying this defense is going to be best in the country means very little. That is what he is suppose to believe if he believed otherwise that would be a bigger deal.

I don't have a problem with the rest of your statements but looking at something constructively does not make you hater.

This is the first year I have not heard complaints about our depth at any position.
I do believe no matter what changes the coaches may make, the determining factor in a turnaround is going to be driven by the players.
This off season preparation seems to have been more intense than in many years. Perhaps we have the special type of leaders we have not had for many years. We desparately need some Ed reed types to stand up.

The difference between success and mediocrity sometimes can be as small getting pass self imposed mental barriers.

Well, the rubber will be hitting the road soon. I just hope we are not pushing out there a shiny Yugo.

Lmao still loving how yall b¡tching about the coaches talking about weight when every dam coach does it lmao

This team has the talent to win 10 games period

In Optimist or Pop Warner?

future NFL players currently on the team

Artie Burns, Deon Bush, Joe Yearby, Stacy Coley, Tracy Howard, Jaquan Johnson, Mark Walton, Dobard, Grace, Carter, Waters, Gus Edwards, Berrios, AQM, Chad Thomas,
Malcolm Lewis, Wyche, Scott, Kaaya, Tyriq McCord, Chris Herndon, Corn Elder, Demetrius Jackson, Trent Harris, Kamalu, McDermott, Raphael Kirby, Darrion Owens, Danny Isidora, Sunny Odogwu, Nick Linder, Trevor Darling, Heurtelou, Moten.

I only included Walton and Jaquan Johnson from the true freshmen.

I'm not saying all these guys will get drafted, but I will say over half of them will get drafted, the rest will be UFA's.

That's a talented group of guys

We were arguably more talented last year and went 6-7. Our OL is a mess, with no depth. Our skill positions are as weak as I can remember. Why the optimism?

You convinced me when you said Zagacki and Bailey are raving about the team. They're usually so pessimistic.

And we continuity in the coaching staff ... Oh that's not a positive is it.

Great stuff Pete!

I agree with putting Gray on KO. I love Malcolm but that is not his best spot. Give Gray a chance.

Grace is not going to put on 5 pounds in camp. A guy like him is lucky to keep his weight. He will be fine though.

The OL is going to be the weakness, and I would say pass protection the biggest of them all. Good news is we have a QB with a quick release than can help overcome that weakness early in the season and then hopefully they can get better. One has to admit that Kehoe had that group progressing every week last year. Let's hope for another year of that. Linder was the best technical blocker I have seen here in a long time on the interior last year. With some added strength I can see why this guy is going to be a beast.

Our WR productivity hinges on Coley going back to freshman form. If he does not do that we are in trouble. No other real play makers there that I can tell. Berrios will be solid. But I am not counting on Scott. He works his butt off but the kid can't catch a break. I will be pleasantly surprised if he starts every game.

The hype machine is in full force. It is difficult to temper ones expectations. In reality we are the deepest we have been since Golden has been here, outside of the OL. With this deep pool of talent no real reason why this team cannot win 10 games. But we know the deal. Coach Coley has to grow in his in game adjustments quickly. Any decent DC got the best of him in the second half last year. And Coach Dorito, well not even going there. If he gets his head out of his *** and coaches like his job is on the line than we have something. But we all know he seems to rather coach his way so he can say "told you so" rather than coach the aggressive style game in game out that this team needs to play with.

Excited about Grace. Hopefully he can grow into a Lavonte David type of LB.

He would be an ideal "rover" in a 4-2-5 but D'Onofrio isn't much of an innovator.

Lmao at Odagwu being in the NFL. He's done nothing to indicate this. Same for Walton, Dobard, Carter, Waters, Edwards, Berrios, Lewis, Wyche, Moten, Owens. Nothing indicates any of those guys will be drafted or get picked up as UFAs. There's talent on this team enough to win 10 games with our schedule but we lack depth and we don't have as many NFL bound players as you listed. We were definitely more talented last year.

And that is why Golden SHOULD be fired if we only win 8 games, or less. To his credit he has put together a talented team. To his detriment, he hasn't proven he can win with a talented team. He NEEDS to do that this year. This team certainly has the talent to shock everyone. Now, will they do it, or will they start 4-0 then end the season 7-5? Will they finally end the season as a better team than when they started the season? There is NO reason we can't win the coastal this year.
