Is the current St. Thomas coach the same coach that does not allow his players to break commitments? If so we might not get Hartley.

Also, what is the latest on Trevon Grimes? I am sure he has eliminated Miami but where is he going?

Grimes has been committed to taint for a few months...

Pete, nice work.

Who would you say McFarland compares to?

Dalvin Cook. But faster and more elusive.

Thomas Brown actually brought Gus Felder along and they hand-timed McFarland at 3.8. Crazy stuff

I am sorry Pete but as a strength coach I am calling BS on this. If you mean to tell me he ran a 3.8 40 that puts him at Usain Bolt speed. Do you mean short shuttle which even that is absurd?

He actually did run a 3.8 40 with a broken leg...

LMAO I don't know what it is with some S&C coaches and their fantasy hand times

Since I said that Devonte is "sitting in the heart of SEC country" I assume you're referring to my post above. That comment comes from the fact that Smith is in the recruiting wheel house of LSU and to a lesser extent Alabama, where regrettably we haven't had much success in landing elite talent. Not sure why that's an issue as it is based in fact.

As it turns out I taught Sam's cousin in college a couple of years back, I'll just say from conversations with his cousin that I'm not surprised that he's no longer a Cane. I hope Sam gets his life together, but his issues are bigger than just missing team meetings.

The rest of your post I absolutely agree with and goes in even more depth in raising legitimate concern about our receiver recruiting. I had forgotten about our missing on Williams last year and had not even mentioned not being able to sway Holloman. Right now all we have is Evidence, and as I said that just should not be the case.

Where is this,"in the heart of sec" sh*t coming from. Stfu with that nonsense. We need to do better recruiting plain and simple but let's face it it's not a deep year in south Florida as far as receivers go. The only elite one is locked in to bama. Maybe richt and co should have thought about that before kicking Sam Bruce off the team for missing meetings and lieing about how he injured his leg. Dugans need to do better, spanning from the disappointment in not landing juco javon wims even though he is from here, Latrell Williams flipping a week later after committing even though dugans and him were connected to USF for months, now in this cycle taking commitments from Rodney Scott who should not have been offered and dingle(jury is out whether he stays or goes), missing on jeudy plain and simple, getting played by holloman and who knows how much we are in it or not for Devonta smith. Harley is a good take to fill the void of missing Bruce but we need a stud to compete with the opposite side of Ritchard's along with dionte Mullins who has been somewhat forgotten by many on here. He can play

He was joking, there was an article recently that said Gus felder timed multilple guys running 4.3s and many people were skeptical of that.

I hope so because I like Felder and I thought he caught a bad case of Swaseyitis with 40 times

He committed to OSU several months ago. No sign of decomitting whatsoever.

Not even close hahah Same running style but Cooks quickness and explosiveness is out of this world. He looks like he is barely trying yet glides across the field outrunning everyone.

U ever seen the opening or seven on seven? I dont know which one it was but i remember him chasing doqn a guy thats picks the ball off. It was so easy and crazy i said to myself holy **** hes fast.....it reminded me of green running doqn jerry rice like he was standing still

WR recruiting has been a disaster this entire cycle. No way to sugar coat it. They initially pursued and accepted commitments from Rodney Scott & Kevaughn Dingle, despite our appalling lack of speed at receiver. Better to correct mistakes than hang onto non-UM caliber players any longer, but this new staff coveted both and royally botched their early evaluations.

Our chances of landing Jeudy or Smith appear slim to none. Then this will likely turn into a last-minute frenzied pursuit of three-star specials at arguably our most dire position of immediate need. I really like Njoku, but it's unacceptable to miss on every single premier WR target when we're beyond f***** at the position if Richards misses any time due to injury.

But hey, there's always next year to start landing premier receivers. Sound familiar?

Your last sentence in this thread is gold and a huge red flag for this staff. Fans already putting excuses for theses dudes

You might have said that in your post but it's not aimed at you I've seen it several times on this board over the past week

I guess your forgetting this years FSU game where Corn Elder hawked down Dalvin Cook.

Corn is also a beast but you can't deny Cook is one of a kind. We missed hard on him, thanks Golden.

He has had plenty of good ones.

same people that discount those guys will site herb waters and rashawn scott being on NFL rosters lol

They will cite them being on NFL rosters to bolster the argument that we should have won more than 6 games, nincompoop. They would not point to those guys as proof that Folden was a great recruiter of WRs. Can you comprehend that difference?

Saban doesn't have to drop bags off, bro.

Yeah, so they just stopped buying recruits after a few NCs?

**** No!

They know college football is an arms race, and they keep bringing in 5stars to sit the ******* bench.

Anyone who thinks that just b/c Bama is running like a well oiled machine, that they don't need to "grease the gears" is a ******* idiot and doesn't know **** about college football recruiting.

Wake up! Elite kids are getting bought.

Patrick Peterson got bought by L$U

Dalvin Cook got bought by F$U

Cam Newton got bought by Auburn

Sammy Watkins got bought by Clem$on

Calvin Ridley got bought by Alabama

To be fair, Reggie Brown was a top 3 WR prospect in the country when he came out of HS. I remember him vividly. We almost had him IRRC. He had heavy interest in us back then. Fred Gibson was big time out of HS too. Now none of them are AJ Green as far as how their career turned out but to say that Richt cant recruit elite, big time WRs out of HS is not accurate. Not saying you said that but I know some on here have implied this.

Malcolm Mitchell playing really well too.

Nothing infuriates me more than losing these top recruits that are 15 minutes from our stadium to OSU.

Some people continue to show their idiocy. Didn't bother reading the rest.

That's a harsh punishment, give kids second chances. Bama had kids getting felonies and still didn't miss any games. I mean this kid was suspended 3 games for something he did before getting to Miami which is unheard of... not to excuse what he did because that was dumb af to me.

Dingle should be in this class smh, We're slow playing him for no reason it seems. But I'll wait til siging day

Pete said the staff isnt high on him. I guess the more they watched of him the less they started to like him.

That's fine and all....but why take the commitment?

The thing with that is that south ridge and carol city both have a number of d1 prospects you don't think that makes some of the other recruits on the team look at Miami in a different light? We should just not have offered Scott period.

Can't speak for the other poster, but pretty sure he meant someone does that for Saban (obviously). But yes, it's blatantly clear that this happens in college football.
