Tommy Bowden resigned six games into the 2008 season, he was not fired.

They must consider DJ Dallas a WR. If not this makes no sense.

I guess technically you're right...pretty sure Tommy was forced out though. The point I was making was the jury is out on ed orgeron for me... I hope he busts

I'm not a fan of the $EC

As of today, Hartley is headed to WVU; Devonte Smith is sitting in the heart of SEC country, where we have not had good success or confidence in our ability to pull elite talent, and Jeudy, who is from home and should be a no brainer to us, is wedded to Bama, and no new names from the JUCO ranks have yet to emerge.

I think we should look at what we actually have as opposed to what we assume we will have come National Signing Day. That will help any of you newbies keep your sanity. This isn't on Pete, he's just reporting, but being close or in the game or making a run for a top player and not landing them obviously means nothing to our program. You can't win that way.

As several have said, at this point, WR recruiting is a concern. I'm glad we have Evidence; he looks like a baller. Personally I'm not impressed with the competition in his highlights, but he appears to do what D1 recruits do against less skilled competition and that's dominate. He looks like a possession receiver for us. I would not bulk him up to play TE (@MizCane) because to my old eyes his build looks different than his brother's build. We need him to play his size at receiver - big and physical.

Evidence is all we have right now and that should not be the case at the University of Miami. We are a program built on speed and aggression (physicality). I know that some of the issue with WR recruiting is on the previous staff, for example not recruiting Jerry until late - how do you do that????, but we've got to do whatever is necessary to keep our top receivers at home including Jerry. Franchise mentioned it months ago - we've got to put pressure on our top talent to stay home the way other programs do. This is why Devonte will in all probability leave us for LSU, which doesn't even have a serviceable quarterback. I admit I don't know how that pressure is created beyond winning, but as a program we need to figure that out and lock down SF.

Pete said that the staff has Dean on the verge of committing to play DB, which is great, and then intimated that they could do the same with a JUCO receiver. Well we need to see evidence of that in the form of names of quality WR targets who are seriously considering us. If we were on a top JUCO WR, why would it be a secret at this point? Seems like Pete or someone else would be hearing some names.

I'm hoping like the rest of you that Hartley does de-commit from WVU and then commit to us, that Devonte will choose us over Bama and LSU, that Jerry will divorce Bama and marry Miami, and that a difference making JUCO receiver will emerge that wants to play at UM. Being honest with yourself, how much of that happening seems likely to happen considering our track record? Because right now, all we really have is Evidence Njuko.

Where is this,"in the heart of sec" sh*t coming from. Stfu with that nonsense. We need to do better recruiting plain and simple but let's face it it's not a deep year in south Florida as far as receivers go. The only elite one is locked in to bama. Maybe richt and co should have thought about that before kicking Sam Bruce off the team for missing meetings and lieing about how he injured his leg. Dugans need to do better, spanning from the disappointment in not landing juco javon wims even though he is from here, Latrell Williams flipping a week later after committing even though dugans and him were connected to USF for months, now in this cycle taking commitments from Rodney Scott who should not have been offered and dingle(jury is out whether he stays or goes), missing on jeudy plain and simple, getting played by holloman and who knows how much we are in it or not for Devonta smith. Harley is a good take to fill the void of missing Bruce but we need a stud to compete with the opposite side of Ritchard's along with dionte Mullins who has been somewhat forgotten by many on here. He can play

is a WR class of: Evidence, Dallas, Hartley, Juco WR that bad? IDK, to me its a B- grade out, when just looking at the kids we got, not adding in the let down of not getting kids.... not happy we cant cherry pick who we want yet, but the WR class itself isnt a fail... if Dallas is the athlete we think, he's another freshman that can come in right away and make big plays (ala Richards)... pretty sure Hartley can jump right into slot type roll as a FR.. both those add more speed than we currently have... you would think Juco kid can come right in and do something, if not just possession.... and thats leaving Evidence to RS to build on that newly 6'6 frame... but there's also the chance he's like his bro and will get jacked pretty fast...

and yes, im moving dallas to WR thinking that we do haul in Bandy, Dean and Edwards at CB...... dont think dallas to CB is necessary then...

Deejay Dallas will be playing CB at Miami.

We are fine at WR if we only land Hartley and Njoku.

Starting three of Richards, Cager and Harris/Mullins/Berrios.

WR is a position where top level kids can play early and do not need to be groomed.

I'm good man, just mad at the wide receiver recruiting more so than db tbqh. Hopefully we close on one of the top targets to add to richards, Mullins and others

If he comes to Miami and, and even if he catches a million passes...Hartley is going to be our next Irving.

Pete, nice work.

Who would you say McFarland compares to?

Dalvin Cook. But faster and more elusive.

Thomas Brown actually brought Gus Felder along and they hand-timed McFarland at 3.8. Crazy stuff

I am sorry Pete but as a strength coach I am calling BS on this. If you mean to tell me he ran a 3.8 40 that puts him at Usain Bolt speed. Do you mean short shuttle which even that is absurd?

He actually did run a 3.8 40 with a broken leg...

Is the current St. Thomas coach the same coach that does not allow his players to break commitments? If so we might not get Hartley.

Also, what is the latest on Trevon Grimes? I am sure he has eliminated Miami but where is he going?

He was joking, there was an article recently that said Gus felder timed multilple guys running 4.3s and many people were skeptical of that.
