**Yes, Chad Thomas will be at FSU this weekend. Anytime a 5-star commit visits the reigning national champs, there is a valid reason for concern, but Thomas continues to tell me he is solid to Miami, despite his visit plans. I will refer you to a quote he gave me a little over a month ago - “Nah, nah, nah. I’ll never change. I committed to Miami so that’s what I’m gonna do. I’m loyal. I might take another visit just to see other things because I’ve been in Miami for 18 years, but you know I’m locked in with Miami.”

**It is known by now that Tavon Ross will be on campus today and throughout the weekend. Miami feels that getting on him before both Georgia and Alabama has given them the upper-hand here and this weekend could go a long way to landing him.

**What I reported a few weeks ago on the junior college defensive tackles still looks to be the case (http://www.canesinsight.com/threads/61582-HUGE-news-on-the-JUCO-DT-front?highlight=JUCO+DT). Heurtelou is expected to be enrolled today or tomorrow and Wyche is still not expected to be here for Spring. Look for Wyche to stay at JUCO this semester and be here in May.

**My feeling right now on Travonte Valentine is that he will be LSU bound. LSU coaches are very confident that he will be theirs on NSD.
**I expect Miami to be a legitimate player for Lamont Gaillard down the stretch. If he follows through on his visit next weekend, things could get interesting. Miami is on him HARD.

It's misses like this that will prevent us from being elite again

It's misses like this that will prevent us from being elite again

What prevents us from holding Duke and VT under 90 points? Do we have to be elite to do that?

Some of you guys are way too far ahead, "elite."

I never claimed that we were close to elite, but having an elite DT/DL is a step in that direction, hence my post

Let me put it this way....elite talent helps but perhaps there is MUCH MORE

Program X

Class Ranking

2014: 23rd Ranked Class

2013: 40th Ranked Class

2012: 12th Ranked Class

2011: 21st Ranked Class

2010: 18th Ranked Class

AVG Ranking: 23rd

2010-2014 W/L: 46-8 (31-5), 4 BCS Bowls and 2 Wins

I do not know what program this is but my guess is they have not won a national championship and play in a weak conference.

sound like boise

Our defense sucks because we haven't had anything close to the talent that TV is.

Our defense will get better with Jenkins, Heurtelou, Moten and Wyche. Hopefully that will help us get a Valentine type player down the road. Which will help us go from 10 wins and coastal champ to elite.

Jimmy's and Joe's, not X's and O's

This is bull**** and flawed logic. Times have changed...everyone has talent. You have to have some sort of tacticians on the staff to be able to scheme both in favor of your strengths and to hide your weaknesses.

Every Golden backer sings the same tune. It's old.....you have to look no further than Auburn for a perfect example. That squad went 3-9 the year before Gus arrived....even if they would have lost the game to Alabama how can you NOT call that season a success and cite coaching as the biggest determining factor in the overnight improvement.

I can't even type in this space how much I disagree with this absolutely flawed and inaccurate logic. You can't have a staff full of recruiters with no solid X's and O's guys on board.....when you do that you get what we saw in the bowl game. 30 days to prepare and the 18th ranked team in the country blows us out of the water.

You want to argue the disparity in talent between us and Louisville warranted a blowout loss?

You want to argue the disparity in talent between us Duke warranted a double digit loss?

You want to argue the disparity in talent between us and VT warranted a double digit loss?

And finally....want to argue that Wake Forest matches us in talent?

I don't mean to attack you personally dude...but this Jimmy/Joes retarded statement needs to be retired. It's innacurate from a relative perspective...we are not DEVOID of talent...and certainly not to the point where any of the outcomes above were merited.

I agree with you on a lot of this....but IMO last season was ruined letting Morris play injured (the north carolina game especially). losing duke/dorsett didn't help anything either. I do not get why AG doesn't take the opportunity to see what he has in williams in that spot. I do think we have some positions with great depth and talent, especially if thomas stays (WR, OL, LB, RB, secondary). there is some solid RS talent comin. last yr i think the teams spirit just took a nosedive which of course led to the now annual OCT/NOV ACC losing streak. AG has been loyal, and I think this is the season to judge him on (how he finishes recruiting and getting us to ACC title game)

To each their own...but I couldn't disagree more.

The sample size is more than large enough at this point to point to the fact that Golden, Onfrio, and company are not bad gameday coaches...but horrible ones. I see all the signs of a badly coached team and the symptoms of an ill conceived scheme.

We're going on year 4. What the **** is our identity? We have an offense that runs on first down, usually runs on second down and sprinkles in a playaction with a shot deep down field. There's nothing there that attacks the middle of the field. No slants. No seam routes. No intermediate digs. And for the love of all sanity....even before Duke got hurt I can count on one ******* hand the number of screen passes we threw to the RB this year.

Sorry...but for as ****** as Morris was...that's not ALL on him. The scheme itself was predictable and no conducive to moving the chains. If a ****face accountant like myself that doesn't do this for a living can sit at home and identify that 95% of the time Malcolm Lewis is in the game, it's a run play....then what the **** do you think good defensive coordinators who get paid to do that for a living are seeing?

It's amateur hour brother...we've got a coaching staff playing checkers while our opponents are playing chess.

And for the love of God, don't even get me started on that defense.

Derick Griffin is it grade issues or is he still playing the recruitment game?

Golden, Dorito, and our on-the-field performance cost us this kid. He's not dumb.
I'm all for bashing Golden for the PSU bull**** but that aint why Valentine ends up at LSU. He was looking for a way out IMO.

As long as Valentine visits us as planned we still have a shot.

If we lose him there are ZERO excuses. He was hedging when he made those comments about our defense being ****** after the Duke game. And then Alpo's little week-long game of footsies with Ped State gave LSU the crack it really needed to make the power move. You clowns can throw the money excuse around all you want, but it just makes you look like *** suckers.

I agree on the visit. If he visits, I think we get him. It's very important that he does not commit to LSU this weekend. Kid has been a flake, to be honest, so a commitment to LSU should be expected.

obviously, if he doesn't visit next week…we're done. But, if he does, he's not 100% ours by any means. We're gonna have to go at him with everything we got!

So if the Canes coaches say they are confident Valentine is ours does it make it 50/50 or does confident LSU coaches make it a lock for them. Stupid question! Of course LSU coaches word carries more weight especially if D'Nofrio is the competition

I want Treon so bad in this class an ATH we cannot go to FSU please AL reel him in also want ford need his talents

I have to disagree the kid was all UM when we were winning and tge defense looked somewhat decent in the begining of the year, he started to waver when defense took a nose dive

So why did he de-commit from 2 previous school - their D went in the tank?

Agreed. Not saying I'm thinking anything groundbreaking. Just get the feeling from the guy he has been genuinely torn about his recruitment and if he gives us the last chance at him without committing to LSU, I think that bodes very well for us.

Not sure how that is disagreeing. I'm saying down the stretch he has been looking for a way out. I agree he was all UM when we were winning.

TV isn't going to LSU. I refuse to keep thinking the worst every time something like this comes up.
I believe Al and the staff will not allow the next Wilfork go to the swamp cats.

This TV situation is so god**** frustrating.

If Hurlie can deliver us him give that man your finest white women.

Peter - If Chad Thomas is as serious as he says he is with audio engineering Miami is the best place for him to be at by far and away of the schools he considering. The Frost School of Music has gained international recognition and held in high esteem like the Eastman School and USC. The industry connections with Miami and the music industry are incredibly strong.
