.... Right.

And what is left in the portal at all the other positions we could have used an upgrade?

Like QB? Lol
Yeah ur tripping.

There’s a difference btw entering and committing. Players must enter the portal within the window, but they don't have to commit to a new school by the deadline; they can still commit after it closes.

Canes got their WRs and DB. I don’t know why u think Thornton can’t play Nickle, or that they don’t have plenty of guys that can’t play Nickle. This idea that we don’t have players ready to take that step next season is funny.

Do they need to add some more quality players form
The portal, yes. Luckily there’s a good amount of options out there that some of us r not tracking.

Serious question, and I know they are the vast minority, but do we think there's another fan base who suffers this level of mopery on the eve of a National Championship game?
Portal is for next year

If the deal was between Thornton and Perich, I'll be honest, we've made a grave mistake.
After our portal evals last year and the turnaround of our defense this year, Hetherman and company definitely have earned the benefit of the doubt on this decision. Especially when he coached Perich and has direct knowledge of how he fits into his scheme.

The player itself isn't the issue, the compensation probably was

We don't know. But Scott and Thomas were not the spendy options either and way outplayed their rank, reputation and NIL.

Perich seems like a good fit as well. However I trust Heatherman’s evals. After all he did coach him. Good chance price wasn’t worth the difference. Thortons film looks pretty darn good and Heatherman can probably tighten up his game even more.

Scott was a very productive player at Nickel. Thomas was probably in line with the WRs we are bringing and Thompson in in terms of production. There is no issues really with the 3 guys we brought in.

There are a lot of top names already gone from the portal.

DLine luckily is still looking decent in portal so I have faith there. Especially with returning production we have

I really think Lb was a big whiff though. Like i said staff better have Wiley and Bobby ready to play. If they are I’m good, but they didn’t play at all this yr. Te I never liked the plan from the get go especially after losing Schott.

Qb though is ultimately all that ends up mattering really. If they pull out a qb then it’s all good. It entirely comes down to that

Koi Perich is a NFL talent who will play one more year, get drafted afterwards and make a ****load of money. These kinds of players with past, very successful ties to your coaching staff, don't just show up at your doorstep.

I'm fairly certain he'll receive money we're not ready to spend at that position. I could make the same argument for our D-Line and why we're chasing Wilson.
How are you fairly certain about anything in regards to Miami’s situation with Perich. He hasn’t visited and there is obviously some things affecting the staff’s pursuit and it may not necessarily be money. He’s very talented and I like him a bunch but Miami has talent at safety and can possibly bargain shop and cherry pick. I trust Heatherman and the staff on this one.

It's been said multiple times now that he costs a lot of money. Please read through the entire thread, I'm feeling like the Stormtrooper meme, for ***** sake.

My comment was limited to Scott and Thomas, so will address those. Your comment is revisionist. People were ****ed with those takes, especially Jakobe. They have been developed, and the staff identified the right traits for their system.

DL - Hopefully we get Carter and Wilson. That would be a great haul to add to what we have.
LB - God knows. Hopefully we get the guy from Cal, but I have not been paying as close attention.
TE - See above. No clue/
QB - What it all comes down to. Must convince Simpson to come, I guess Bailey to enter, or find someone else to jump in.

We have talent on the roster that has been developing for a couple of years now. This staff will evaluate, identify, and upgrade where we need it.

Yeah, I know he’s bag chasing. How are you certain that is the reason Miami isn’t pursuing? Maybe it is, as that can be considered a deterrent. Just not certain that’s the primary reason for no pursuit.

Honestly not getting Koi Perich isn’t that big of a deal to me. The bigger deal is having not added any of the nickels that were available - which there were a lot of. Db was very deep. An experienced guy like Cannon even would have been a nice addition that would have set a good floor. Then you have the young guys compete and maybe beat him out. No problem with that.
