Miami's plan coming out of July was to win and flip. They are already woking on Phase 2 of the plan. Some notes below:

- One name where Miami has made a major move: Syracuse commit WR Calvin Russell. He was at the Rock when his close friend Malachi Toney broke out in primetime, and the Orange got smoked by Tennessee. Still work to be done but the Canes are surging.

- I don't know if a ton of flips are imminent, as the Canes are still learning about their current roster and the recruits are still learning about the Canes. But they are making progress with a number of big names. Some players to watch over the course of the season: DT James Johnson (Northwestern), DE Anthony Jones (Mobile), S Ayden Pouncey (Orlando), S Jett Washington (Las Vegas) and more. I know there are reports that RB Derrek Cooper is fading as an option, but I heard we are still firmly in the mix.

- One name to watch as our 2027 QB: Trent Seaborn (Birmingham, AL). The Hawaii-born passer is at South Carolina this weekend and is also looking at Oregon, Alabama and Auburn. He visited Miami unofficially in spring and will be back in town this month. As a sophomore, Seaborn threw for 2,675 yards (64%) and 26 TDs with 7 INTs. He threw for 2,601 yards and 27 TDs as a freshman. Here he is last week against Georgia powe, Grayson:

@DMoney what’s the latest on dopson? I imagine we’re working to keep him. How’s it looking?

Would love to clean up at Northwestern!

Need to stay on Dopson as well. Our secondary room has been a joke for far too long. We have turned that around night and day in 1 offseason. Very impressive. Now lets not go backwards.

Still not sure investing in Russell and Cooper is the right way to go. They're both high risk high reward types. But we do need more difference makers, guys that can single-handedly change the outcome of a game. It's the one thing we are still lacking.

DT and S depth need to be addressed above all, along with top level LB and TE talent.

Plus we have alot of young corners and they will have guys in their ears about transferring. I doubt we can keep all 4 underclassmen rotating next year again.. We will be blessed to hold on to 3..

I will be super happy with even just 1 DT flip + 1 S flip. If we can't pry away J. Johnson then take the developmental Haitian FAU commit and go all out to flip Nolan Wilson & Jett Washington.

I think you approach finish of recruiting with a minds eye on the January portal period.

We need to budget tor IMO:

-Big time QB
-Portal TE-quality
-Portal WR-one veteran solid piece. Have 1 eye on Chance and Carr potential portal so may be necessary to add 1 veteran to young group.
-One bigtime portal OL

-Portal DE-veteran with producitvity
-Portal DT-veteran with size/producitivity
-Portal safety veteran

That's 7 minimum portal players, and we will probably sign more than tha, but those 7 will be expensive.

He's a talented player but not a finished product and he wants a lot of money. He'll probably reclassify and we have four blue-chip 2026 corners already. I could see the parties going separate ways.
How many corners we looking to take this year ?
