Did EW3 die?

Is TrumpyCane suppose to be impressed by him catching WR screens and 3 yard dump offs?

He's nothing special until he proves otherwise

Any WR can catch WR screens and 3 yard slants

Just reading Malik is making strides would be flipping perfect. My bias is bad with him. Lol I thought him and Popo was the best duo get in a long time.

Our DT room this year is better than last year and teams didn’t run it down our throats last year. I don’t see it being an issue barring major injuries

Jesus....Justin Scott completely slipped my mind, somehow. You're correct. There are ZERO excuses for us to not have good DL play. None. Again, will it be one of the best in the country? Likely no. But @Ghandi said teams should just be able to ram the ball down our throats in the A gaps. Who? We're not playing Michigan every week. That's silly.

We have how many kids who can play inside who are 300+ lbs with athleticism? Several. What more do you need? Miss me with the "we can't be a good team because we can't stop the run due to the DT's". I'm not buying that **** for a second.

Guidry's last 2 teams, against FBS competition, have ranked 5th (Marshall 2022) and 20th (Miami 2023) in yards per carry allowed in the country. If the defense isn't good, it's not because we have no talent at DT. That's a bull**** excuse. Get it done.

To the rest of his point, I share his concerns about DB and lack of explosion at RB. Those are legit concerns, IMO. DT, while not great, doesn't lower the outlook of the season. We're good enough there to beat every single team on our schedule.

VS GT, killed in the second half by Haynes and King to waste the clock.

VS UNC, Hampton is still running.

VS UVA, they kept converting short 3rd downs.

VS LOU, same as UVA. Short yardage conversions all game.

The fact we’re not playing Michigan caliber teams and we’re still struggling against the short yardage stuff is concerning.

It’s not a scheme thing, it’s a physical talent thing.

I think you’re in for a rude awakening with the DL.

I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but the gaps at DB, DT, combined with a lack of explosion at RB, do not make this a 10-win team.

There’s not much game planning needed when you can ram the ball between the A-gaps on a team.

We aint out of the woods at RB yet. The other 2, yes. I don’t see us getting difference makers there. RB, I can see it…

Bro come on.

GT had what, 175 yards before the fumble? If we take a knee, we hold a Power 5 opponent to 175 yards of total offense for an entire football game. I’m too lazy to look but I’d guess that might be a school record for an ACC game. And you’re gonna bag on the run defense??

UNC was rough all around, especially late when the defense was dead because we wouldn’t stop giving them the ball when we were on offense.

Louisville definitely wasn’t the best defensive performance either, but to me that game was more on the pass defense. Plummer missed about 100 open guys and still had one of his better days of the year.

Again, I’m not expecting the 2001 DL. Or anywhere close. But I’m expecting 10 wins. And there’s more than enough talent on this front to get to that number against this schedule.

If we had Kirby Freeman playing QB, maybe I’d feel differently. But we don’t need to be perfect on defense to win 10, imo. We need to be able to rush the passer and limit the run. I think we’ll be ok on both sides of that.

I’m still surprised that a white TE from Indiana has serious interest in UM, and that our battle is with OSU and not ND. This young man must hate ND because having known a lot of Indiana kids, most dream of playing football at ND, and especially the white kids. And he plays a position, TE, at which ND has historically been very strong.
How about the Catholics dream of playing for the Domers

Brother, every time I get worried about DT in the offseason, I hear the same reassurances. But it comes back to bite us in the *** without fail. We just lost our best DT to the NFL and his expected backfill (Burroughs) was dismissed.

So now we're going to be saved by true freshmen? Do people realize how much of a unicorn Bain and Mauigoa are. They're Freshmen AAs, that means there are only a couple of them across the entire nation. You can't count on 18 year olds to stand up to grown men on the line, I do not care that they're 280-300+ like Scott, Jones and Blount (who is 16 or 17). Samson couldn't do it last year on the OL.

So who is going to step up? Clark is not generating buzz. Moten is not generating buzz. What's that tell you? Horton is injured. My experience seeing 20 years of failure to recruit and develop the DT positions screams at me that this a much bigger problem than the optimists are willing to admit to themselves.

Some guys on here were counting Bryant as in their transfer list as if he was already written off. Made no sense.

I love Guidry and am happy with Jackson so far but really don’t understand this lack of urgency on adding starters at both CB and S. Maybe we happened to land the two best DBs from Vandy ever but my brain tells me the fact they’re both starting is all I need to know about the quality of our DBs. Mike Williams was a starter transfer from a similar powerhouse program.

Not enough buzz about our DTs. Not surprised. When the young guys come in they’re going to be all the rage. But it will be because of the lack of talent we have with the existing guys as much as anything they’ll do.
How do u hear buzz about dts in shirts and shorts?.

We gotta wait until its full tilt over a week. I dont take anythin serious until like the second week in pads when it comes ot lineman, rbs and lbs

You should rewatch the GT game again. Lost in how bad the offense was, is the performance of the defense on critical downs in the second half of the game.

I’m also not a believer or expecting 10-wins this year. Miami has NEVER physically dominated the ACC (I have my own theories on how the games are officiated to start) and I don’t expect that to change this year.

I still think the third year on the field for the 2023 class will be when Miami start the climb to the top.

You are probably right that our offense is good enough to win a lot of game. We just have to pray our defense is good enough not to give them back up in the fourth quarter. I am a believer in Guidry. And we definitely have improved at LB and DE (if health and we don't lose guys). But that DT and DB situation is worrying. I know D$ says they're happy with their DB starters. But I'm skeptical, and even if they prove good enough, just one or two injuries and we're hosed.

You're a pro at this Geta. Shouldn't the DTs have an advantage in shorts and shells? They typically overwhelm OLs on all the camp highlights I've seen. ... If you are telling me I'm overreacting, then I'll defer to your expertise, though.

Ngl, I'm not the biggest fan of Elyiss Williams. I totally understand why they like him though. His measurables are off the chart. But his high ranking is mostly projection right now. IF he's willing to work.. yeah.. he'll be a first round pick. But even in the best case scenario, he's gonna need some time.

I was told that his blocking needs to be torn down and basically retaught from scratch. His route running needs a lot of work too.

I'm just not sure if I'd throw that level of NIL at a projection TE quite yet. I think there are other positions I'd address first.

Fun fact, his composite ranking is higher than his individual site ranking on all 4 recruiting sites. Not sure I've ever seen that.
Im str8 on him and the efforts.

Im on cloud 9 that my guy from Indiana is being prioritized. Brock Schott. First time i seen a clip i like the kids route runnign ability and can see he was a football player.

As far as the second te spot..i would prioritize
