Here is the latest on the Portal:

- Miami is in a good spot with four-star transfer WR Keelan Marion (BYU), LB Kamal Bonner (NC State) and K Bert Auburn (Texas). I'm told Bonner has the defensive staff very excited and has great reports from NC State.

- The Canes think they are right in the game with RB Marty Brown (North Dakota State). Nebraska is the competition.

- I'm told Miami has a plan at safety. I haven't been told what it is, but they are working on several things. DB AJ Haulcy (Houston) is still in the picture but there are other things going on.

- DB Greg Smith (Florida) is another option at safety but is separate from the plan referenced above.

- Miami is continuing to look for a depth piece at DT.

- The Canes have interest in USF nickel Brent Austin. He made 48 tackles and had 2 picks last year.

- WR Tony Johnson (Cincinatti) is another name to watch as a depth piece who has played.

- While some names in the Portal are waiting for paperwork to clear, I can confirm Miami has retained its current roster.

Do we know if miami rated WR Marion higher on their board than the Syracuse WR Pena?

Retaining everyone is the biggest piece. This is a very good roster and several kids were tampered with. Keeping almost all of them tells me 2 things:

1. We are spending money comparable to most programs we’re competing with
2. The kids believe in the staff, the program, and their peers

Would like a couple more pieces before we’re totally done, but the roster is in good shape overall. We need some things to bounce our way, but about 98% of teams in the country do. If Beck is fully healthy, the OL will be very good, the backs are more than capable, the secondary is totally revamped, and we have a lot of dudes on the DL. Just need some of these highly-recruited kids to play like it at WR and LB and we should be just fine.

Pena could have 1000 yards in tjis offense and Marion is not even playing WR for us just returning kicks
I just can't understand why another solid or elite WR wouldn't want to transfer to miami given the track record from last year and also since Beck transferred here. It just doesn't make sense. Maybe the available players in portal aren't that great either.

I think you mean Auburn, not Austin, as the kicker’s last name @DMoney
