Super interesting by Cole, but likely wise on his part. I think the quality vs quantity approach is never a bad thing with class size. Rb, Te, linebacker, and safety should be the priorities. We need difference makers there. I have 0 concerns about the recruiting in the trenches, Mirabal, JT, and D Lew will grab the majority of who they want. And Qb is intriguing but will see how that plays out over time.

When I checked my bank this morning I was sad at the balance, after @DMoney bank im rich!

Cole McConathy switching positions to TE was not on my bingo card.

The kid played meaningful snaps as a true frosh defensive end. Heck, I remember Bain singing his praises …and now he’s a TE who will try and make an impact as an inline blocker.

Maybe the new TE coach sees something he likes…oh wait…nevermind…we don’t have a new TE coach yet.

Wishing him much success as we could use a weapon in that room.
He possessed nothing at DE besides being able to set an edge. Spot on the team for that but I believe this d line has been elevated passed having that on the roster when that spot can be replaced by an elite talent.

Kudos to him making the switch though. He could have easily transferred and played DE at a lesser school.

I'm all for blocking TEs. There's gonna be a lot of guys out there who can catch passes from Mensah. Add push to the running game, as the blocking is one of the things we're worried about.

Cole pulled the Reverse-Sapp...

Really bummed about McConathy switching. Wonder what brought that on.
Injuries absolutely killed him. It feels like he fell a little behind — which obviously isn’t his fault. He hasn’t been able to get the reps needed to really take that next step, and we’re seeing how much that’s benefited guys like Lightfoot, Blount, Scroggins, etc. McConathy knows what we have in both rooms and probably feels he can be an X-factor at TE and get a lot of snaps.

That is what we need. I haven’t seen him catching passes but he seems pretty coordinated. We will find out in spring if there is anything there.

Judd versus Cole at project TE?

The other interesting thing about McConathy is dude decided to make a position change rather than transfer to get more playing time elsewhere at DE. To me, that shows he wants to be here. Most guys nowadays just bolt the second they realize they're not in the 2-deep.

I like the fact the kid is sticking it out and did not hit the portal. Solid athlete with excellent size. Should understand how to use this hands. Should be a matter of working on his footwork. Hopefully helps us as an inline tight end.
