Star infielder Vance Sheahan transfers to Miami

The Canes landed a huge piece of the 2026 team with the commitment of USC Upstate infielder Vance Sheahan.

A rising junior from Lake Worth, Florida, Sheahan slashed .328/.399/.522 with 16 2B, 12 HR, and 57 RBI. He also added 25 stolen bases for a USC Upstate team that won the Big South and made the tournament for the first time in school history. As a freshman in 2024, Sheahan hit .330 and won Big South Freshman of the Year.

Last summer, Sheahan put up a .934 OPS in the Northwoods League on the same team (Wasau Woodchucks) as Canes LF Max Galvin.

This was a big-time recruiting win over UNC and Clemson. Miami has invested significant resources into the Portal-- both for players and in the process-- and I expect higher-level recruiting wins now that there is more on-field success to sell. Sheahan committed this weekend while the Canes were in Louisville.

The Canes already addressed their need for corner infield size with the additions of the patient 6'4, 233-pounder FIU 1B Brylan West (12 HRs, 28 BB, 32 Ks) and the twitchy, high-upside Miami-Dade 1B/3B Cian Copeland (15 HRs in a pitcher-friendly park).

So Vance is listed as infielder does anyone know what his main position was ? Offensively the numbers and speed look good but 15 errors is concerning.

yeah hes been in the class for so long I almost lump him in with high schoolers.

We are looking more and more the part too.
Assuming at least Galvin and probably Williams return, the lineup is already night and day with those 3.

If some how you get Ogden back, the lineup is Omaha level.

Pitching staff needs a lot of help. Needs a lot regardless of one’s opinion of DeRias in 2026. If you’re down on him like many of us, it’s in dire need of starting pitching.

Where would this kid be in our lineup from this past year
Logical 1-2 hitter. No idea if JD would have caved on his R-L-R-L fetish to slot him up there behind Ogden.

Very comparable hitter to Ogden. A little more natural pop and more speed. Kane Sweeney at USC Upstate is a big launch angle and modern hitting guy, so you see him elevating more than someone like Ogden with those teachings.
