Not that I ran many of them, but my simple recollection is that a "flag" and a "corner" route are the same route. A corner/flag route is basically a deep route with a diagonal cut towards the sideline (or the corner of the endzone, hence "corner"). A post is a deep route with an inside diagonal cut (towards the goal post, hence "post"). There are variations, stems, and double move routes (like a post corner), but generally a post is towards the middle of the field and a flag/corner is run towards the sideline. But I guess if you are far enough from the endzone, on a long enough play, a post route might take a WR towards the opposite sideline...

unless somethings changed since I played, posts go inside flags go outside
Yeah a lot has changed since leather helmets. A post can continue all the way across the field if not broken off

Just keep putting elite talent around QBs because Ken Dorsey was not an accurate throwing passer, but he was a solid leader who did not take games or plays off. We need a leader and gamer at QB!

It really depends on what formation youre in and whose running the route.

Scenario: red zone, opponents 20 yard line:

If you are in double slots/ twins spread and your left inside slot runs a post, it can take him to the back corner of the endzone if the route isn't open on the break.

Its not doubles formation but the illustration shows how this route can reach the back pylon if its not open at the break.

Always love FootBallVille Nations Hurricane vids. Jarren Williams is looking nice man. Stephen Morris was out there talking to Richt as well. Pretty cool to see him coming back.

Its pretty clear to see from that vid, this is a two horse race for starter.

Rosier and Kosi.

When you look at the mechanics, cade is not far behind Kosi, fairly fluid, carries out a nice fake, but has a more drawn out delivery.

Kosi carries our a nice fake. Fluid movement, he knows what hes doing for sure.

Jarren is a freshman, and you can tell for sure. There are a ton of things he needs to learn but hey this is his first semester in college. Not bad.

ran a route once and each overthrew...how about letting the QBs rep the route multiple times!? Cant wait for the dude that suggested we move Deejay to QB full time shows up to comment. :)

if it's going inside, it sure can

**** you played in the 30s too??

**The RB's got an extended (compared to what we've previously seen) run in practice today. They ran RB draw and RB pitch with the QB's out of the shotgun and the rotation remained the same as it has been (Travis Homer, Deejay Dallas, Lorenzo Lingard, Robert Burns, Crispian Atkins).

Nice to hear that this guy is still getting some reps at RB.

The media gets what 10 or 15 minutes to watch drills? They dont actually watch practice so they can't say what's going on.

How did you come up with one was throwing to a spot and the other to a receiver...your opinion is yours. When doing qb drills(to the endzone), its mostly a timing thing just like a fade, a slant, etc

I think I agree with what you’re saying. They’re practice/drilling timing throws. Get to the spot.

Just a guess because if it’s what I think it is, they were both supposed to be throwing where Rosier’s ball landed, which is near the pylon. So my guess was, Rosier just threw to the actual spot, Irving be dammed, just go get it. But in Perry’s case, he just saw Poledny wasn’t getting there so he threw it a little short, it was closer to him. I’m just guessing though, I can’t read their minds.

But I do know timing throws, if that’s what these are, are to a spot, and the receiver is supposed to get there in certain amount of time. You work these over and and over over again, QBs and WRs and even TEs to get your timing down. They’re called timing throws. I mean, come on, it’s basic. How many times have we seen a quarterback release the ball before the receiver has even made his break either left right or at an angle even.

It’s why you have practice.

whether it be a post or a post corner. you can run the route to the back end of the endzone.

How can you not is the real question.

WTF are you talkin about?

There’s absolutely zero chance they were running post corner routes with these TE’s. Maybe with Mallory and Jordan. Nonetheless, the OP said a post to the corner. I highly doubt that was happening either. When have you ever seen this team run a post to the corner? They run fades all the time. The OP miscalled the routes... I’m certain.

Even is Rosier starts against LSU, I would bet he will be on a short leash. He was pulled from games last year only Shirreffs was such trash that he made Rosier look good.

Hopefully the quick sand the te’s were running in is removed before an injury.

Regardless of how bad our TE's may be the point is those throws are against air, they need to be complete. Not going to read too much into this but that was a little disconcerting. We need someone to step-up and take the job.

I believe Richt is telling them a target to hit independent of whether TE gets there. Most of those throws can be blamed on the TE running slowly by a step or two. Richt wants the muscle memory of the throw, not whether his guys can connect on a wide open man.

100% this. It's amazing how many people fail to understand this.

I remember going to an open portion of practice for the Canes as a kid during the 2002 season. The small portion of practice we saw included QB warmups and throwing a couple routes against air. Ken Dorsey was easily the least impressive of the bunch during these drills. Didn't mean a **** thing

Ken Dorsey hadn’t looked like a complete and total chump for the last three games of the previous season. It would be one thing if one guy has an off day here and there. When they all look like **** on a stick and lack any apparent urgency, it’s concerning. But y’all go ahead and cape up and tell us we’re all just a bunch of dummies to be concerned. We appreciate your magnanimity.
