Oh, and thanks to all who have contributed in these threads- especially Money.

The way we should be recruiting is identifying all the Miami kids first and foremost, then using the Miami kid as a tiebreaker for other evaluations on out of the area kids.

Not because S. Florida is just better, but because this is how you cultivate a culture of kids staying home for the U.

You don't start it with simply snagging an area legend- we've seen that isn't going to be enough. You start it from the bottom up. Building a relationship with all area schools that make these kids grow up looking at that U on their helmet since middle school.

Golden tried the mercenary route and I never liked it. If I were a coach I'd never even know what stars a kid had. I'd tune that all out and recruit the traits I'm looking for. Rank kids on my evaluations. And I'd play the game until they got on campus and I rocked their world with intensity and competition. Open practices fellas.

Ludner Mercy-- guard at 6-3/310 as a sophomore and moves well......Oxbridge has a lot of "giants" in the O-line and now starting in the DL for 2018 and beyond. Has good arm length..powerful hands...nasty attitude....and a huge wide frame.

Here he is against Cocoa...like to punish people...gets to the next level well...

I've seen some of stoutbeast stuff before. Tell him he has an invitation to join CIS. Would like to have another good voice around here.

I guess he does not have to put up with what he does not want to. I understand he has retired financially well and travels a lot. Real good guy people told me and is dead serious about the U becoming great again. I believe he attended there way back in the early or mid 1970s. Earned a doctorate degree I believe. I contacted him and he told me Ok to post some of his stuff here. Says there are people on this CIS that are real knowledgeable and solid U supporters.

A few more names to keep an eye on as potential D1 guys:

Tellis Bostic- 6'3, 325 pounds (Deerfield Beach)- Very powerful base and is tough to push back once he anchors down.

Jr. Season Highlights - Tellis Bostic highlights - Hudl

Steve Jean-Baptiste- 6'1, 290 pounds (Chaminade)- Strong player who brings physicality to a high-flying Chaminade offense.

Junior Highlights - Steve Jean-Baptiste highlights - Hudl

Jamar Lambert- 6'3, 340 pounds (Flanagan)- Enormous. I guessed 340 pounds, but he may be bigger. Played all over the line (including center) for the state champion Falcons. All-Broward first team. Needs to lose weight.

Junior Highlights - Jamar Lambert highlights - Hudl

Mershawn Miller- 6'1, 305 pounds (Central)- Really good football player who has been coached up by Kenny Stephens, one of the most underrated position coaches in South Florida. Size is the only question mark..

Mershawn Miller - Mershawn Miller highlights - Hudl

Zach Sweeney- 6'3, 275 pounds (St. Thomas Aquinas)- Tough and fundamentally sound. Plays tackle for STA but projects inside at the next level. Syracuse has offered.

Mid season highlight - Zack Sweeney highlights - Hudl

Kedonis Haslem- 6'3, 285 pounds (St. Thomas Aquinas)- Struggled to break into the starting lineup this year at DT, but with his size and decent athleticism he could get some looks at guard. Son of Udonis Haslem.

Sophomore highlights- http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4205450/highlights/199410393

He is now listed at 6-3/297..sometimes they used old Nike data from a year or two ago.

Haslem is nowhere near a Miami player at any position

Career reviews

Teddarrell Slaton - Chose UF over us because he wanted to play defense. Was a solid nose tackle at UF & was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2021.

Corey Gaynor - Signed with UM. 3 year starter at center. Lack of physical strength but was serviceable at times. Transferred to North Carolina.

Kyron Taylor - Signed with Marshall. Redshirted first year. Reserve in 2018, moved to defensive line & has been backup last 3 seasons.

Cody Bowes - Signed with FIU. Unclear if he ever enrolled there or if he even played football after high school.

Robert Hawkins - Signed with FAU. Redshirted first year, unclear what happened after or if he still plays football.

Robert Holmes - Signed with UConn. Redshirted first year. Played all 24 games in 2018 & 2019. Transferred to Austin Peay, started 3 games & played 8 at guard in 2020. Transferred again, this time to Arkansas State, where he provided depth in 2021.

Willa Pierre - Signed with FIU. Redshirted first year, didn't play in 2018, played at Coahoma CC in 2019, unsure if he still plays football.

Cedrick Jackson - Signed with Bethune-Cookman. Redshirted in 2017, unclear if he still plays football.
