thanks, humor is sorely lacking on this board.

Excellent breakdown, the whole idea that he chose us when most would choose to go elsewhere is huge. Wisconsin is a much better program at the moment and plays in a better conference and Golden and Fisch were able to sell him on the future of the program. Hopefully this commitment will be what the program needs to get back on track.
the only reason he chose us is because his family has deep ties to golden

throw greg out of the equation

chris transferred from ND to UVA and played there while al was on the staff

when he was at temple........chris sr......who is a great HS coach.....was apart of a few of als camps there

and chris sr also sent alot of kids to play for bc.....uva and temple when al was on the staff at each school.......so they have a good and long standing relationship with each other

if he didnt wind up here......i would have been surprised

I agree that I would've been surprised if went elsewhere, but at the same time, we have no idea what are sanctions are going to be, and we are going against a program in Wisconsin that has had far more success recently than us. I like that Fisch really took the time to make Olsen feel comfortable and sold the program.

I've read concerns that Dewey might be near max because of the coaching he got in HS. Those in the know, does he have a lot of room to get better?

Every 18 year old kid has room for growth.

please forgive my ignorance, but what does ball handling mean in regards to a QB?

Imo he does got room to get better, I think playing at a small school he's having to adjust a lot. He has to catch up to the college speed of the game.

I hear ya. But what about mechanics? Is there more that he can work on that TD already hasn't? I only ask because this is what people in Texas were saying a year ago. That he was already coached up and might have plateaud...

#1. Mechanics can always be improved, quickened, and taken to another level. If a kid has plateaued at 17....then one of two things are true: he's ready for the NFL or he isn't going to get any better
#2. Any QB working with a college coach is going to be farther along than a kid in HS. End story. If you don't get that, or if anyone else doesn't, I can't help you.
#3. Coached up to what level? HS senior as a junior? College Fr level as a HS senior? there are quantifications for this and QB coaches can see it and measure it, but if you want to say a kid can't get better....why even take him then. He's maxed out.

Most people you listen to regarding QB's.....don't have a ****** clue as to how to play the position. Never played it and fake well like they know wtf they are doing. Stop listening to them.

Mainly refers to a quarterbacks ability to carry out and sell fakes. Peyton Manning is the best in the league right now. There is an extra split second where you don't know if he is handing off or passing.

How well do you think he does with check downs and not letting the d know where he is going with the ball?

I could be wrong on this but I thought that Dewey was a year older not younger?

No your right, he's 19.

Jesus Christ. Everyone thought that this kid was the next big time QB here, and now that he actually needs to develop like most kids, he's already being thrown under the bus at a time when he should be picking out a tuxedo for prom.

Why don't we sit back, let these kids practice and take some classes, and see what happens? Many of our best players, even QBs were nothing when they got here. Ask Toretta and McG for example.

Junior prom, at that.

Hard to say without seeing actual game film. He seemed to protect the ball based on his stats, but he had a good team so he may not have been asked to do too much.

Hard to say without seeing actual game film. He seemed to protect the ball based on his stats, but he had a good team so he may not have been asked to do too much.

His team was obviously successful, which helped him in some ways, but I wonder if his low number of pass attempts may also indicate that he only was called on to pass the ball in apparent passing situations. If that's the case, that actually can make his numbers a little more impressive in that he rarely had the opportunity to inflate stats (completion percentage) with gimmes on 1st and 2nd down and had to beat a defense that was looking for the pass regularly.

Any thoughts if any of the incoming guys will transfer out with the Olson signing news? I can't see all of them staying. I would think that 2 would leave.
