Is it inconceivable that the #1 recruit in the country couldn’t progress and become ready over the course of the season?
Just need to perform at the approximate level of our worst performing OL to give it a shot. I could see Cantwell at LT progressing to the point where he is a better option than SJ at guard and could warrant the reshuffling.
Anything is possible. I wish college football was more forthcoming about injuries. That would alleviate a lot of questions we all have.
I’d rather see Meriweather at RG. SJ gets mowed down most every play. Not that others aren’t on the OL but I don’t want this Wall of Mirabal to have a sub 6’0 300 pound RG lol we can’t win a title with him there.
Cantwell is LT. He isn’t taking samsons spot so where is Cantwell supposed to get snaps?
Merriweather isn’t blowing the doors off in the snaps he has gotten either. He is a tackle I think anyways. There really aren’t many options. I wish Joel was further along in his development but this is on the staff for not hitting the portal for a guard.
I hear you but if he’s bad and they are bad. Give me the size. He isn’t providing anything of value right now and we’ve had chance to at least sub him for others to get snaps to see.
I think SJ graded well verse FSU. Will have to wait for my info on that. He has looked better at RG than he did a LG but yeah he isn’t good enough. Unfortunately nobody on the bench is taking his reps by showing they are capable in practise

For that game we had:
- no OJ
- basically no ZP
- basically no Damari
- no Slime
- Fitz out for a couple parts of the game
- X first game back
- Need more rotation at WR.
- I thought there was expectation of rotating OL last night (ex. Rhys). 80 a piece was opposite of that
What happened to Pringle? Really? This guy happened.

There is zero proof that’s higher upside. The obsession over Cantwell playing is wild. Got to stop looking at stars. Not all OL are ready to play right out of high school. In fact 90% of them aren’t.
I’ll concede that Cantwell may not be ready but Congdon was deemed “not ready” for the first couple of weeks and now he’s a stalwart on the line. So things clearly can change.
Also to say playing Cantwell over SJ is not higher ceiling is a wild take.
Cantwell was awful at guard when he got in earlier this year. They tried it and failed miserably. He is a tackle and seems to be exclusively a LT at that.
