S Avantae Williams sets UM official visit date

It seems the Canes will be getting another talented defensive back on campus when the dead period ends next week.

Sources with knowledge of the recruitment have told CanesInSight that 2020 Deland (FL) 4-star S Avantae Williams is planning to take an official visit to Miami on January 17th weekend. Originally, Williams was scheduled to play in the Polynesian Bowl in Hawaii during that time, but I'm told he has cancelled those those plans and will be on campus in Coral Gables instead next weekend. The Canes will also play host to fast-rising 2020 CB Ennis Rakestraw from Duncanville (TX) and St. Paul's Episcopal (AL) OT Brady Ward that same weekend.

The source also says Williams has locked in a visit with UGA on the final weekend before the February signing day, so the Deland star will be in Athens for January 31st weekend; Williams had previously scheduled an official visit to Florida the week of January 24th and that visit is still on.

At the Opening Orlando Regional in February, the 5-11 170 pound Williams recorded a 4.52 40-yard dash, a 4.25 shuttle time, and a 36.20 inch vertical leap.

I think Williams's camp did a " copy / paste special" of what Tyrique Stevenson's camp was selling last year.

Is it really a troll job if nobody gives 4 flying f#@ks if he comes or not? I for one could care less.. I think we have maxed out this off season. Let's just play ball now.

Solid posturing. You don't care, but you came in this thread. That implies you care to some degree. Obviously other people care or it wouldn't have generated responses.

I'm glad the coaches don't think we've maxed out this season. They're still grinding, like they should and if they didn't, posters would rip them to shreds for it.

We can't play ball now. It's recruiting season.

I doubt he comes, but they took their shot and it's up for him to decide. I would rather then try than not as many recruiting wins have come through the years that looked like a long shot initially.

Probably a visit high. He still has visits to UF and UGA up next. Would be a shock to land him after the Lingard fiasco.

The only thing that surprises me with this kid is he didn’t hold out for a visit super bowl weekend to have the time of his life on our dime..

I see this kid committing to Miami, then pulling a switch and sending his LOI to UF. Seems like that type of recruitment.

Either way it doesn't hurt is. If he comes great, if he doesn't ok. We've signed other players at his position.

If we were the last visit I would partially believe him that we had a slight chance. But he has UF and UGA left? 0% chance. Lo is going to make sure that he signs on that dotted line. Probably already promised him to UF once he transferred.
