Rutgers transfer Linebacker Mohamed Toure commits to Miami

The Hurricanes bolstered their defense in a big way Friday with the transfer of Rutgers linebacker Mohamed Toure.

The 6-foot-2, 236-pound senior formerly played under defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman at Rutgers and enjoyed success together in 2023 as Toure was named to the All-Big Ten Honorable mentions list with 93 tackles, 9.5 tackles-for-loss, and 4.5 sacks.

If any of you can get over the PTSD of the 2023 pinstripe bowl, watch the highlights and see how Toure impacts nearly every play on the defensive side. It was a tough wound to reopen by watching that game, but the excitement of Toure’s addition as an impact player seemed to numb said pain.

Toure brings a physical presence to the middle of the field, being a key contributor in the blitz and run game. But while he was expected to be one of the top linebackers in the Big Ten last year (**** Butkus Award watch list), he suffered a torn ACL which ended his season before it began (His second in his career).

Now healthy, Toure brings both performance and experience to the linebacker room playing in 37 collegiate games so far in his collegiate career as a strong leader for the defense. If he can remain healthy this season, Toure can prove to be as key of a transfer as any Miami has had in both the winter and spring transfer portal.

Toure visited last week before finalizing his commitment for his final year of eligibility as the Hurricanes beat out the likes of Penn State and Indiana for the transfer.

He joins DB Keionte Scott, WR Tony Johnson, WR Keelan Marion, LB Kamal Bonner, and K Bert Auburn in transferring to Miami in the spring portal as all six look to be impact players in the Hurricanes upcoming 2025 season.

Mario has to find a way to 10 wins and an ACC game or it’s going to get really really ugly for this program. That first month or so is absolutely massive with ND, Florida and FSU. Is Miami goes 1-2 in those games the wheels might come off the tracks.

Week 1 against ND is so important. Will be a packed house that I plan on being a part of .

Hopefully we can get some games out of him and rips heads off ND and UFag helping us to victories! Anything more than that will be gravy for me as I won’t count on him for the entire season…

I think they possibly have had better recruiting classes (regardless of rankings) and they usually have great OL's. We will find out where we are game 1, and they just made a natty game. They are ahead of us especially up front (we have names that's it, besides Bain). I expect it to be close I just don't think we have the QB like we had last season. Beck I always thought was mid and got carried by UGA's roster when he had a good season. I always said that, and just because he plays for the team I love it doesn't change that opinion from me. He cant run just in a straight line, Daniel Jones can run in straight line but a straight line runner is easier to stop. You make them shuffle/change direction and the rest of the D has make up speed for the kill. Our roster has to carry him but I just don't think it can. But that's my opinion which really doesn't mean **** till the games are played. Hope I am wrong.

Our defense will be better but there are weaknesses to exploit especially in the middle of the D, and this is the runner up this isn't Florida and we were amazing on offense last year cause of Cam. I expect Freeman to have replacements he recruits really good.

My tracker shows 87 scholarship guys after this pickup. Obviously could have missed a few moves here and there but it seems to be pretty close to accurate

If the NIL is high enough scholarship is not necessarily needed.
