What do you expect from DJ Johnson?

His transition will be a little tougher because he's coming late from Sacramento.

DJ and Garvin complement each other well. DJ is on the short list of size/speed freaks at Miami. Garvin has more functional skills: long arms, natural power and lateral quickness. Both guys should develop into monsters with Coach Kool.

DJ will fill in the Chad Thomas role after he is gone. Garvin will be a sack specialist. Two different types of players.

we're starting to load up the team with guys who really love football. this is very important and how our great teams used to be.

I'm a huge garvin fan. I love his potential and what he can become physically. But as of now he'll struggle with good tackles. Conversely, DJ has rare size / speed and can chase down plays from the backside like few people in cfb. It'll be interesting to see how they get time allocated, because our front line guys can do what Garvin can, in effect, but probably only Joe Jackson can do what DJ can do. And DJ be faster.

I don't know.
In his HS film Garvin looks like the type of player who just get's to his opponent and tackles him. Technique may not be the best but he always seems to be around the ball. I personally think he plays and will get some big hits on people.

Garvin's film blew me away. Athletic kid that just seemed to know where the ball was going, and got to it. Just good instincts. The pick 6 he had was a thing of beauty. He knew it was a screen and he baited the QB into throwing it, then picked it. That's something you just can't coach into a kid, and Garvin has it. He might not put up the numbers Jackson did as a freshman, because Jackson is in front of him. But he will make an impact, and he will be a heck of a player for us.

No wonder why Yearby and Gus left. Rick has a man crush on Walton.
