After weeks of rumors, there’s finally something real to chew on in Miami’s quarterback transfer hunt.
According to Pete Thamel, former Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt is visiting Coral Gables today. He’s already taken visits to LSU, Kentucky, and Tennessee, and now Miami is officially in the mix as things begin to heat.
In the 2024 season at Arizona State, he threw for over 2,800 yards, tossed 24 touchdowns against just six interceptions, and added more than 400 rushing yards with five scores on the ground.
Even in an injury-shortened 2025 campaign, Leavitt stayed productive. He passed for 1,600+ yards, threw 10 touchdowns with only three picks, and rushed for another 300 yards and five touchdowns.
Miami’s interest checks out. Under Mario Cristobal, the Hurricanes have been aggressive in the transfer portal and reliable when it comes to quarterback development. From Cam Ward, who went on to become the No. 1 overall pick, to Carson Beck, whose NFL future looks bright, Miami has built real credibility at the position.
