This is his job:

“It is another set of eyes that can see things that I can’t see at practice or at a workout. He can come up to me and say hey I am not liking the body language of this guy or the interaction between a player and player. He can go into the locker room after practice and serve as a mentor.”

Key words are body language and mentor
He can do more than that, how about let’s not say what he can’t do when in reality you don’t know what he can do or not. ANY coach on a football staff (which extend beyond the 10 coaches on the field) can sit down and watch film/evaluate with a player yet you just said reed couldn’t. How about you sit this one out man

Gotta admit I’m a little surprised it’s a part-time gig.
In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter. He’s going to be here ALOT more than he was previously which is a blessing and will certainly be helpful

1) McKinnie isn't in the Hall of Fame and the greatest to ever play his position.
2) The job is Chief of STAFF. STAFF does not mean players.

Apparently this is rocket science.

The job could be called "King of the Universe." He isn't chief of anything. He has no specific responsibilities and no authority, but what was discussed has to do with player evaluation and recruiting, not "staff."

Can't pass judgement on reeds hire right now.play on the field will tell everything we need to know.if player development and the recruiting doesn't improve same old story.

I love the hire. No need to go commando storm trooper on me, junebug. I’m just surprised it’s a part-time gig. I’m not so sure that’s a great thing that this job isn’t his priority like it is for every other football staffer.

Is the COS gig part-time at other P5 programs?

You got an awful lot out of that 1 sentence huh? He literally used the words priority and Miami together and you turn around and say that what he said, says to you that Miami isn’t even a priority.

That’s our fanbase for you. Ignore 99% of what’s said, focus on 1 sentence that you don’t like, pick it apart and turn the situation into a negative.
State your opinion, but to lump the fan base of ignoring 99% of what’s said is ridiculous.

You said that he can run private practices. I have the quote right here from you “He can absolutely coach players privately.... he can set up appointments.” When he watches practices (if he goes to any), he is going to tell coach Diaz and it will he relayed to players
You said you have a quote where I said he can run private practices and then showed a quote where the word practice wasn’t said once. Seems like you may have a comprehension issue. I’m done responding.

Part-time seems odd, but I’d imagine there will be more hours spent on campus during Spring and Fall camps and during the season.

Like everything else, we’ll see....

Anyone complaining about Ed Reed even spending an extra second on campus and around the kids in that locker room is clueless.

There’s a difference between discussing and complaining. No need to circle the wagons any time people discuss topics. I’m shocked our COS is a part-timer who clearly referenced other priorities and I think even said he’s still working another job.

Clearly he is in a trouble shooting capacity. His job is to advise. People in this capacity in business often work for numerous clients at the same time. Staff and players would do well to heed his advice. Big question is will they?

Ed reports to Manolo again it’s a role designed for damage control and to appease the fan base. I’m sure Ed is sincere and his passion for the program is unwavering. However his bosses on the other hand continue to be parody outfits who should never be taken remotely serious at any point in time.

Once again without a massive house cleaning over there it’s a complete waste of time.

Bingo.

Consider me skeptical of anything more than a PR move. It was the ‘ players ‘ who pushed for Coker , essentially sealing our fate for the last 15+ years . It was the players who pushed to keep the ‘ Pro Style O to prep players for the league.’ Maybe a boost in recruiting and some coaching help but zero administrative experience which is where we are most lacking - Zo had something to offer in this regard .....
