If we don’t see Lyle and Trader against FSU, my guess is we may not see them much.
I would like to see them just get some snaps even if their # is not called and they are just out there for a feel of game flow. IDK what is going on with them but assuming injuries remember we have a bye right after FSU. Assume FSU beats UVA (big if) but would you want two guys that havent played football in a month making their first start in that environment? Knowing another bye is right around the corner then legit a mad sprint to the end of the season? WIth that in mind I wont write them off entirely but it is for sure starting to get to the we may not see them this year ballpark

Mario said after week 1 he had a minor injury but Mario speaking about injuries could have been he lost a finger, tore an acl, or just pulled a hammy.
or got patad. we never know w mario

Yep. I’m not expecting anything from him (simply because of our history with this injury teasing stuff)

But if/when we do…

Brown and Fletcher are gonna need a break and Lyle is much more important than Trader for me
Can’t disagree with any of this.
I sure didn’t think I’d feel that way about the WR’s after what we lost.

Yeah don’t get me wrong gimme all the reinforcements but if I had to pick just one Lyle would be a no brainer

TrumpyCane someone a few months ago this was Fletcher's first off-season healthy, he was hurt the previous off season with his foot

It's not shocking he's improved

Fletcher and Brown both had well over 20 touches last week.

I don't think that's what you want if you're thinking you're going to play 16 games this year.

I think 15 for all 3 kids would be fantastic, with 6+ catches combined in there.

If I could draw up the perfect game it'd be Fletcher with 15 carries, Lyle with 12 and 3 catches, Brown with 12 and 3 catches. 45 combined touches between those 3 players, good luck to defenses in he 4th quarter, and you can still throw the ball over 30 times with that mixture.

Mario knows this team can make a run in the playoffs. Time to start preparing for that. We need 3 healthy backs starting with FSU. The way Fletcher and Brown run, they are bound to miss a game or two. We need Lyle to be there when that happens.

Yeah and you know I threw tantrums about not leaning on Martinez enough at the end

During the grind of the season we gotta have a committee so we can deploy our best when we really need it

Pringle being injured sucks too

I'd like to see Pringle get a handful of carries too, just hoping he catches a seam and breaks off a long TD run.

Honestly it's a great time for a bye. Now, I wish the 2nd one wasn't 45 minutes after the first one, but I like the timing of this one. We just played 4 games basically with only 2 backs...Bain and Mesidor just played every single snap of the last game, Jojo *should* be back (or maybe he's been deported, who can say at this point).

It would be nice to have Pringle for those middle of the season games. I know you're not allowed to say this, but we're going to smash Stanford, we're going to smash Syracuse, we're going to smash VT....it'd be nice to get guys like Pringle 10+ touches in games like that to keep the horses fresh for the whole stretch run.

Yes, would likely mean the injuries are more severe than has been let on.

FWIW I like Lyle, but I don't know why some think he's a better RB than Fletch or Brown.
Our coaches apparently think so because he was the first back to get carries this season.

This and people can improve over time. Not everyone bursts onto the scene with an Adrian Peterson-type start. Sometimes the expectations are unrealistic and the declarations that a player "just ain't it" after spot snaps in their freshman year are laughable and premature..

At least it was only around 45 plays for them because of all the 3 and outs lol

Weird stuff going on with Lyle. Correct me if I'm wrong but:

Lyle was cleared to go back in the 2nd Half of the ND game
Lyle hasn't missed any practice time

And we saw something similar to this last year:

Lyle got 6 carries in the 1st game vs Florida (looked like he'd be in the rotation)
Lyle got 6 carries total in the next 5 P4 games (so he wasn't part of the rotation)
Ajay Allen was higher on the depth chart in 2 of those 5 games
Ajay Allen was the only one who got meaningful carries in those 5 games (vs Louisville)

The 1st & 3rd runs in these clips show both the good & bad of Fletcher IMO

1st Run - The Bad - Gets 1 on 1 in the open field vs a 198 lb DB...and he dips into his Drunk Uncle Shoulder Shake bag. He kills his forward momentum and gets knocked over pretty easy with no YAC. When he gets in the open field - Fletcher tends to try and turn into Jahmyr Gibbs. On so many runs he tries to avoid or brace for contact instead of taking contact to the defender. He tries to make moves he simply doesn't have the athleticism to pull off.

3rd Run - The Good - He does the opposite of Run #1 and stays big in the open field. He keeps his forward momentum going and takes contact to the defender and drags him for 7-8 more yards after contact. When he hits these DB's in the open field at full speed, it's bad news for the DB's. I wish he did this more, but too often he slows himself down and makes it easier on DB's. This was his best run of the night IMO. Embrace being big BIG FELLA!

Oh but according to one of our fans Fletcher is a terrible back. Smdh
