Well done @DMoney and @LuCane. Out of all the podcasts, this one might be my favorite.
First, I thought Lu's discussion on culture was very on point. I was hoping that if UM had hired Highsmith that he would have brought over character evaluation from the NFL. Looking back, it is easy to see that college football does a pretty ****** job at evaluating character. I wonder if Dabo would have recruited Willie Williams?
I would wager that most organizations consider both performance and culture when rating employees each year. Usually, culture is rated in whatever values the company claims to live by. I think you have to ask yourself, why do the NFL and most businesses care so much about culture and values, and why do most college teams seem to not?

That was the worst loss in program history for me. I was there, and the Canes flatness was palpable at halftime. The Lamar running take-away still has me in disbelief. Heartbreaking game that ruined the Hesiman campaign, the streak, and ended an era. Oof.

D$'s [now] wife and my ex-gf were best friends and roommates. Because of it, we basically lived out of the same apartment for about a year. I'm a bit older than their group. As for the 87/88 games, they were some of my first memories of going to games. And, listening to them on the radio with my father. The 88 game against Michigan stands out in my memory pretty clearly. Didn't watch it on TV, but we'd throw the football outside and listened to every play on radio. I'd get in full gear for games - black cleats and all. I attached a pic of that season and our gameday tradition. If I remember correctly, the BYU loss that made me cry was the next year. I think that was the first time I cried for a Canes loss and had been the last until this year's FIU game.
I wish I had been there to console you.

So the heck you stand by what you say. And that means exactly what to me? It means Nathan! I stand by what I said too, and it bares repeating just so you and I can put this thing to bed.
Diaz is the worst coach to lead the U, this was possibly one of the worst coaching jobs in CFB history, and it was unquestionably the worst season I’ve seen from Miami in the 38 years I’ve watched this team play. I can’t unsee what I saw, and I refuse to apologize for not allowing King, a kicker and Roche to white wash what I saw from a coach that’s clearly in over his head.
I agree man. I think the real challenge for any fanbase is being able to manage the frustration & disappointment of losing, without letting it affect their overall collective temperament. This is especially true for a program that has an alpha level world city as it's backdrop.

there were stories late in the 93 season, where it started to come apart a bit for Erickson, that the underclassmen were about to have some sort of mutiny because of playing time, etc. That's when I knew his time at UM wasn't going to be much longer

Guys so readily allow the bar to be shifted. The expectations here should be constant. Not reaching them should result in major tweaks to the structure. We made those tweaks. Now if they don’t work, then Manure needs to be the next correction.
Looking at our dog**** schedule, no reason to pick anything less than 12 wins outside of coaching.

I look forward to seeing a lot of you alls posts when we win 10+ and the Coastal next year with a team, I expect to be a lot of fun to watch.
Will there be credit given and crow eaten or, which my money is on, there will be caveats applied for the wins(schedule, didn’t win by enough etc) and extra attention given to any losses we may suffer.
Won’t be surprised one bit bc a lot of our “fans” want their opinions about Manny to be right more than they want us to win games.

Have the talent to truly go 12-0(given who we play). None of the teams we play are more talented than Miami. the coaching/ motivating the team week in and week out still remains to be seen... getting a qb like king and running a true spread for the first time ever is something we have never done before so I’m not putting any ceiling on what this season can be. Hopefully Diaz takes over the reins completely on defense now that his job on the line too.

*Diaz calling the defense getting us close to where we was before baker(penetrations defense that DIDNT give up big plays). I’ve said a lot about Diaz negatively but one thing is clear that defense in 2019 wasn’t similar to what he’s called since being at Miami let’s be clear.
I’m adjusting my expectations accordingly. Should be a big year

Brock, be honest with yourself. Our CBs are very suspect, especially Ivey. McCord hasn't shown me he can be the guy in the second level for 4 years now. Our DTs are pedestrian. Now, can they all take a giant leap this year, sure and we hope so...but that's a lot of hope. And I was just talking about our best unit, I haven't even broke down the offense. 9-3 seems realistic and attainable...and yes, it would still be a disappointment
I think 7 wins is more realistic until proven other wise. I still dont trust manny and his staff to prepare the team

Unfortunately, you’re probably right. Or we’ll win 9, and all the dopes will get lathered up over the great “improvement.” Manure will get an extension. Then King will graduate, we’ll lose a bunch of other talent too early for the draft or portal, and we’ll win 7 in 2021.
You guys miss the point. Manure winning 7 or 8 would not surprise me because he’s a **** leader of men. Him being **** doesn’t change my expectations for this program.
This program, with a competent leader, should own the Coastal and win at least 10 every year with regular appearances in major bowls and occasional spots in the playoff. That should be the standard. If the HC can’t meet the standard, you don’t lower the standard; you grease the HC.
I don’t think there will be much of an appetite for any substantive or significant extension, or really any at all, at 9 or 10 wins.
Just a projection on my part, but that’s how most people feel that I personally know, that are stakeholders in the program. I know that’s exactly how I feel. I don’t think people understand the deep level of dissatisfaction and total confidence loss that was cemented by the last three games.
Personally, even with Coastal title, and ACCCG appearance he’s is most definitely not off the hook for me. So a 9 or 10 win season won’t do it for me.
And if my personal projections are accurate, there’s almost no way even with shltty coaching, that this team can’t win nine or 10 games. Not with the new offensIve philosophy and new offensive personnel and coaches.
