podcast. Really enjoyed it.
My boy
@k9cane, per usual, spitting old school history, taking us down memory lane.
We honestly do need an infusion of talent. U guys bringing up how practice was ran under Diaz.
One thing I want to highlight that while it’s true our 2ndary doesn’t have any 3 stars, it could be argued this back 7 have been the worst group, & yearly have slipped.
So far we’re:
-68th in Passing Defense
-111th in Team Passing Efficiency Defense
Starters: Stevenson, Ivey, Kam, Williams, Couch
2021:
-102nd in Passing Defense
-60th in Team Passing Efficiency Defense
Starters: Stevenson, Ivey, Kam, Williams/Hall, Bolden
2020:
-65th in Passing Defense
-59th in Team Passing Efficiency Defense
Starters: Ivey, Blades, Hall, Bolden, Couch, Carter
2019:
-18th in Passing Defense
-29th in Team Passing Efficiency Defense
Starters: Ivey, Blades, Hall, Carter
It’s absurd how this room, on paper, is probably the most talented, but have continually regressed v. progressed.
Also, I heard that several scouts at the game were less than impressed w/ all of our players. Play calling was taken into consideration, but it was the lack of physicality & effort that was most alarming.
What’s sad is that when that P.I took place, & it was a blatant, dumb P.I on Flagg, I knew w/ how fragile this team’s mentality is, it would yield to dejection that FSU would capitalize on. The general feel after 7-0 was the game was over; u could literally feel the proverbial air leave HRS. I don’t think it had anything to do w/ the level of competition vs. deep down, every Canes fan know this team have not responded well to adversity for a while.
Also for me, it feels players have become comfortable in being mediocre. I’m seeing guys smiling & joking w/ FSU players as they r embarrassing us; not just embarrassing us, but trying to embarrass us. Long ways away from the days ER20 being belligerently upset that Miami wasn’t blowing out FSU,
leading 21-13 at half.
