PODCAST: Roster overhaul after FSU loss? Featuring Steve "k9" Kim

This was such a FANTASTIC listen. Loved it. One thing that I hoped to was a part of it (and it may come later) but some potential names for offensive coordinators.

This whole roster overhaul will save us idea is ridiculous. This team is a train wreck and it's due to incompetent leadership at the top, that isn't going to change.
Disagree. Yes, the leadership has been horrendous, but no one is saving many of these JAGs on the roster, either.

It's both. We need better leadership and cohesion on both the leadership side (coaches and staff) and the player side. Turning over the roster with better prospects is always a good thing.

next year is going to be tough as well…im just totally guessing here but assuming no tvd or garcia back were left with brown and 2 true freshman …brown has shown he cant hit water falling out of a boat in regards to passing…
Really? After how many throws are you making this analysis?

Our fans pass judgment about young players that shouldn't be on the field until 1-2 years into the program, but are forced into duty early.

A handful of throws and it's nope, he doesn't have it. C'mon man!!!

How about waiting until after a full season or 2 of coaching before judging a player's ability and capability.

Brown is a great athlete. But I can find 50 QB’s currently in HS that throw it more accurately than he does. And I am not sure we have the QB coaching to suddenly make him accurate. With him back there might as well run a spread RPO with extremely simple mesh passing concepts.

Talked to a former National Championship Cane and we both agree we've never saw a group of so many guys that were 3*-5* recruits be so **** sorry. They have no personal pride. Some things a coach shouldn't have to motivate you to do. Yes, we need a new OC yesterday, but Mario and his little Cubano Bro are just as bad for the OL. Mario needs to bring in one of those hot shot Big 12 Offensive Coordinators.

when he's running right into the line what do you expect?

If he had this potential he would have come in prior to garcia.. i hope brown can develop..

MJ Morris at NCST seemed to have stepped in fine for Leary as a true freshman and was rated way lower than Brown

What is potential?

Garcia is in his 2nd year of college. He was more polished coming out of high school. That's not potential. That's a developed skill set.

You could have high school student doing college level school work. He's not smarter than a college senior student, but has greater potential. There's a difference.

So what? Players don't develop at the same rate.

Jacurri was 3rd string and didn't even get many live reps in the Spring.

I don't think he's even thrown 10 game passes and we have CIS fans already deciding what his ceiling is as a QB.

It sounds like a new OC is probably possible? If so is Ponce just going to be the OC or will Mario actually look for a new OC?

If Ponce stays Joe Brady has to be the target.

Otherwise, Mario gets the best OC he can and the person brings a WR coach with Ponce being the odd man out

Well his nickname was “ fire crotch “ when he was in college.
Cribby, are you expecting Gattis to be gone and then a search to be conducted or

Do they wait and announce Gattis departure simultaneously with the replacement in hand

🔥🔥🔥🔥 podcast. Really enjoyed it.

My boy @k9cane, per usual, spitting old school history, taking us down memory lane.

We honestly do need an infusion of talent. U guys bringing up how practice was ran under Diaz.

One thing I want to highlight that while it’s true our 2ndary doesn’t have any 3 stars, it could be argued this back 7 have been the worst group, & yearly have slipped.

So far we’re:
-68th in Passing Defense
-111th in Team Passing Efficiency Defense

Starters: Stevenson, Ivey, Kam, Williams, Couch

2021:
-102nd in Passing Defense
-60th in Team Passing Efficiency Defense

Starters: Stevenson, Ivey, Kam, Williams/Hall, Bolden

2020:
-65th in Passing Defense
-59th in Team Passing Efficiency Defense

Starters: Ivey, Blades, Hall, Bolden, Couch, Carter

2019:
-18th in Passing Defense
-29th in Team Passing Efficiency Defense

Starters: Ivey, Blades, Hall, Carter

It’s absurd how this room, on paper, is probably the most talented, but have continually regressed v. progressed.

Also, I heard that several scouts at the game were less than impressed w/ all of our players. Play calling was taken into consideration, but it was the lack of physicality & effort that was most alarming.

What’s sad is that when that P.I took place, & it was a blatant, dumb P.I on Flagg, I knew w/ how fragile this team’s mentality is, it would yield to dejection that FSU would capitalize on. The general feel after 7-0 was the game was over; u could literally feel the proverbial air leave HRS. I don’t think it had anything to do w/ the level of competition vs. deep down, every Canes fan know this team have not responded well to adversity for a while.

Also for me, it feels players have become comfortable in being mediocre. I’m seeing guys smiling & joking w/ FSU players as they r embarrassing us; not just embarrassing us, but trying to embarrass us. Long ways away from the days ER20 being belligerently upset that Miami wasn’t blowing out FSU, leading 21-13 at half.

And that’ll be exactly what defenses will expect us to do, unfortunately.
