As it stands we can play Brown and Emory in four games each and still preserve both their redshirts. They both really need a 'shirt, for the sake of their careers and the program.

Frankly I would sacrifice backup reps for them for the first 4-5 games of the season in order to have them available if we need them later, and only use Brown if TVD went out in a tight, still winnable game.

If we want to pull TVD in an early season blowout I'd rather see a scout team kid go out there to hand off and kneel, and save Brown and Emory until the second half of the season just in case. It would be a disaster to really need Brown later in the year and not have him or have to burn his 'shirt late.

Redshirt > reps this year.
Redshirt really don't have the same value anymore. Kids staying 5 years in college isn't the norm. Best case scenario Brown is the QB next year you think he's staying for 3 years?

Is dt really that depleted rn? I would think we’d have enough to scrimmage/practice reasonably between moten, gore, deen, lichtenstein not to mention with guys like mesidor and bain also able to play inside.

What concerns me is all the talk of an improved OLine...up against a SEVERELY depleted DLine...doesn't inspire confidence. I mean, the oLine has to be better than last year at this point, but to claim any "corner turning" seems disingenuous at worst.

I'm sorry to say I had this same thought after reading the positive news on JB. If he progresses as we hope, my guess is he's only QB 1 for 1 season here.

Sure, possibly. Watch much CFB? This isn't Playstation, kid. Injuries happen, the unexpected happens. Need a list? A lot of experts had TVD balling out and going pro after last year, didn't they? But here he is, playing again. And his playing career was accelerated as he was much less raw than Brown. Brown will have a later start on his clock and that last year might matter more to him. Brown should have been redshirted last year. It was really unfair to him to be throw to the wolves like that. I'd love for him to be a 3/3 guy heading into next year. If he starts for two years and is ready to go pro, great. If he starts for two years and is projected as a day 2 type guy that we can try to retain with NIL, I want to have that option. if he gets hurt too late in his senior year to get a medical, again, rather have options than not. Again, Brown can still play (****, he could start) in four games this year and keep his shirt.

If you want to be combatant at least present a valid argument. The Kenny Picketts and Will Levis aren't the standard. That's not to say that redshirt can't be used but don't fool yourself thinking it helps anything. If he starts next year he's not the QB here in 2026. If he doesn't start next year he's gone to another program.

I see a very similar trajectory to Anthoy Richardson if he's the starter. With his physical attributes we'd be lucky to get 2 seasons out of him.

"Lucky" to get two seasons out of him? As in one and done? Yep, all we had to do was give you enough rope. You've been saying over and over here that Richardson will be a total bust, iirc, right? So when Richardson gets drafted super high, flops (according to you) and sets a franchise back and costs a GM his job, you don't think that's going to affect the draft status for the next Richardson type two years later? Thank you for proving my point, again.

You're so desperate to start beefs here you're literally stalk-posting without thinking and contradicting yourself.

You need to take a knee, go outside, and get some fresh air. This is unhealthy.

This is why @RVACane getting the dumb reaction banned is a waste. You clearly have a limited mental capacity. Richardson won't be drafted because he lifted his team on the field. He has physical gifts that others don't. I fully expect Richardson to suck and I'd be terrified to draft him. You are truly stupid if you think all that will happen over the course of the next year. It will take 3 to 4 years before anyone throws in the towel on Richardson which obviously has 0 bearing on Jacurri next year. My point was similar to Richardson, Brown would be appealing because of his physical attributes. In Cryptical fashion you had to go trip over yourself to Karen this thing up.

You sure you want to bring RVA into it? That's a bold strategy, Cotton.

While I do enjoy watching you desperately move the goalposts, twist what people say to suit your weak-minded arguments, make ridiculous speculative assumptions and act like they're facts in order to attempt to create the conflict you pathologically need, as I said, you've grown tiresome. The novelty wore off. My clown, keep clowning. Never change.

Time to call for help the delusion isn't working anymore. Imagine me listening to someone who has never even seen pads before irl.

I really wish the NCAA would just change the rule to everyone gets 5 years period. If there is a truly exceptional issue that comes up in your 5th year causing you to miss at least half the season they you can apply for a medical 6th year.

There's 2 positions that should NEVER be void of talent at Miami.
WR and DB!

DB's fvckin' grow on trees down here!

Listen, man, when 384 amateur message board posters are up in arms over the failure to recruit Elijah Moore and our evaluators are like "nah, we don't need that kid," all we can do is look at the trees from a rickety sailboat... far, far off in the distance.

That wasn't the context I was using. I meant a physical specimen that could be drafted solely off of ht, weight, speed, and arm strength. I'm sure he'd light a combine on fire.

You said you were seeing a similar trajectory to Anthony Richardson, so I don’t see any other way that can be interpreted no matter what context you put it in.

Anthony Richardson was a physical specimen that woefully underperformed in college. Granted, it may be just poor coaching on the turds part, or it may not be. He just may be limited in his ability to perform as a winning quarterback. We will find out.

But I would expect better QB performance in college from JB than what Richardson accomplished, disirrespective of their physical comparables.

Wouldn’t you agree, @Tad Footeball ?

Trajectory for Richardson not really play 2 years win the shorts competition get drafted. I'm not ready to go into specifics on field until I see more of Brown than a Gatty/Ponce year. The NFL will always make room for guys like Lance and Richardson that wow you without the game film to support it.
