I’ll give you one that is they’ve run every time I’ve been there.

Corner back pedals to a spot on the field with another corner running a 9 route. DB turns into the WR (great move to teach) to force them into the boundary. The two issues I have with a drill like that is that at no point is the DB asked to turn his head or shoot his hands thru the WR hands.

So in one drill they’re creating bad habits that the DB will take to the field with them.

Fast forward to 7v7, and the kid is getting yelled at for NOT turning to look for the ball and shoot his hands thru the WR. Of course he’s not going to do it, you’ve given the kid 8 reps in a drill that doesn’t reinforce it or teach it.

There are other examples, but this is one bothers me the most.
I honestly agree with you. You always want to build that muscle memory of finding the ball or making a play on the ball. Can’t imagine why they aren’t enforcing that on a deep ball drill. Perhaps they’re teaching separately, that I do not know.

It’s so difficult for CB’s to actually turn and locate when they’re beaten. Takes rep after rep to get good at. In HS, you can turn and find when the WR does, but in college you have to read ques from the WR and not panic.

Few will be good enough to do that right away. But all should be looking for hands from the WR to get between or at the very least rake.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. It’ll be something I watch for moving forward.

Don’t be shocked if Damarri doesn’t come in and starts stealing pt after he gets some time on campus. He’ll be behind early on but he’s one of my favorite recruits. I expect him to be a good player here. Guys lacking talent don’t give guys like J Smith fits when matched up.

I think he's talking about Jacurri Brown and god I hope we don't do that stupid **** where we pull TVD off the field and run Jacurri in there to get the offense all disjointed.

Yes, I know it worked with Leak and Tebow. But no good teams do that goofy ****. If TVD is your guy, then roll with him. And truthfully, Brown is years away from being an NFL prospect, if he ever gets there. So it's not like he's some 3 years and done type kid. Redshirt him, let him earn the job as a 3rd year Sophomore in 2024. Hopefully you can ride him for at least 2 years.
Josh Gattis based his entire offense on getting into 3rd and 2 so he could take his starting quarterback out and run the same predictable QB draw with the backup. That dude is the WOAT. And at Miami, that's saying a lot.

Is this the same guy who almost withdrew a couple months ago?

Khamauri Rogers & Co. are so shortsighted. Soft

What the heck happened there? Losing both Avantae and Khamauri due to fit and character issues in one offseason certainly didn't help our backfield. All on the players, or did our coaching carousel share in the blame?

Cormani is not Patrick Peterson. He's 165lbs and pretty sure he's a summer enrollee. He's tall and rangy but he needs to gain 25 lbs of muscle and we have no idea if he can gain the weight or how his speed will be effected.
Impact type recruit of Patrick Peterson not the play style

I doubt it I dont think those teams have anyone on the roster thats built like him. Bama and UGA hide there corners behind great fronts so CM is going to have to do alot of work. Thats why most Bama and UGA and even OSU dbs flame out, they just get guys that are big and can run which is ideal when u build fronts like they have. I see we trying to do the same so I am not mad about it. But hard to find those Sauce types and Surtain types they dont come around often, I like our kid from AH HS Brown. I expect him to do well when our defensive front gets more talent, guys like him easily get drafted especially behind good fronts. And the reason those guys will do better at bama and Uga will be the front 7's, but measurables they dont have anyone like that. I think the NFL will see that in CM. If he flames out it would be one of the biggest busts I ever seen at that spot, pause @Confidence1000
I see u respecting the pause game @Dwinstitles. I smell ya! BIG PAUSE

I guess that's better than running his immobile starter on QB draws like he did against A&M?

Love how the narrative has changed between reports. From " Jacurri has to make major strides " to " Jacurri might be a problem in this offense"

Like I said, Jacurri had enough to win in CFB. It's Dawson that has to make the strides and from the sound of it Coach is doing just that.

Tired of our players having to become Peyton Manning and Ray Lewis.

Meanwhile Lincoln Riley and Brent Venables take anything and make it work

Addae should have been fired last year, that’s the one staff error Mario made. He doesn’t do anything right, he’s a salary causality. Luckily Guidry is a DB guy but nothing is getting turned around in this position group unless we bring in more guys in the portal - which should be expected at this point.

Sorry but JB needs alot of work as a QB.As a runner he's elite. As a passer he's somewhere around average.

Easily in the Top 5 of my Most Important Players for a successful 2023.

In the college game, having a truly elite back is an absolute difference maker. Especially when you're playing for Mario Cristobal and Alex Mirabal, because you know there are going to be some talented linemen in front of you. If Chaney can stay healthy and truly flash, it will make a massive difference for us.

My Top 5 as it stands today:

1. Tyler Van Dyke -- Don't think this one needs much explanation, but his performance this year not only dictates the 2023 season but also has a huge ripple effect on future offensive recruiting. Saying it's imperative that he play very well is the biggest understatement imaginable.

2. Leonard Taylor -- I'm not overly concerned with the offensive line. I am much more concerned with the defensive line. You cannot be average on either front and be a good football team, it just doesn't work that way. So to have the DL achieve what's needed to make this a legit team, 56 has to be the kid we recruited him to be. Truly the 2nd biggest piece on the entire team, IMO. If he approaches Gerald Willis territory, and he has the talent to do so, it is going to make the entire unit so much better. If he still only flashes, shows inconsistency, and can't stay on the field, this goes from a potentially good unit to look-out real quick.

3. Xavier Restrepo -- Probably a controversial pick, as we all know we need an couple outside WRs to emerge, but the full health and Year 3 jump we should get from this kid will put a jolt into the offense. I know he won't play the role that Tank Dell played in Dawson's former life, but our OC has shown he is willing to get his best playmaker in this room the football. X is that, until proven otherwise. We know the connection he has with TVD. We know the talent he has. And we know what kind of leader he is....but it truly makes a difference when your biggest alpha leader is also the one making the most plays on Saturday. It just elevates everyone else and players rally around a dude who will put his money where his mouth is. I expect Braxton Berrios in 2017 at a minimum. 55 catches, 679 yards, 9 TDs and someone who consistently moves the chains on money downs.

4. James Williams -- I have been very critical of this kid, and honestly how can you not be at this point? But if he's truly going to play Safety, it's time to be the player you are supposed to be. I know Kam is going to be a superstar. And honestly I feel that a true outside corner emerging is more important for the defense to be successful than James being the dude we thought we were getting when we signed a Top 10 talent in America. But since I don't have massive confidence in that happening, if we can have Kam on one side and a kid on the other (and in the box) who can even approach the same talent level, it makes the job of the other kids in the secondary that much easier. No, he's not going to mask everything. If we press someone on the outside and the dude MTSU's us and makes the corner look like DJ Ivey in cement cleats, we're not going to be very good no matter what. But having 2 truly elite talents on the back-end and giving Guidry the flexibility to move them around the field and have the opposing offense account for both kids at all times, it will ease so much pressure on the corners, who we know will be a work in progress, to be nice. James...it's time. At a minimum, even if you don't ever reach a level of production expected of a consensus 5-star DB, tacking someone occasionally would be a nice consolation.

5. Don Chaney -- It's 2023. You have to score points to win football games. To me, the next most important piece to that is a stud back. Rooster is gone. Thad is gone, and likely eating somewhere. Citizen looked like a gem, but will be coming off an ACL when camp rolls around, and the college kids rarely seem to overcome those injuries as quickly as we see the pros do (for good reason). So I'm not counting on him early in the year, if much at all. That leaves #2 as that between the tackles banger who should get a TON of opportunity as an early down back, and this is coming from the President of the Henry Parrish Fan Club. I absolutely LOVE 21....but he shouldn't be getting 20 touches a night on early downs, downhill between the tackles, IMO. Chaney fits that mold much better. Also, I put him on this list because we NEED him to take reps, like he literally has to, hence his inclusion on a most important player list. If he no-shows again due to injury, and leaves the entire load just on Parrish with 2 true freshmen and a redshirt Fr. coming off an ACL, we are going to be in deep ****. It's imperative that Chaney give us that 1-2 punch we're going to need.

Leonard Taylor at 17. Refer to my comments above. We need this kid to play like the 17th pick in the draft, DESPERATELY.
