Things seem pretty delicate personnel-wise on offense.

If something happens to Perry, Walton, Richards, Herndon, McDermott I'm not sold that we have adequate depth to overcome it.

The big thing working in our favor is the schedule (FSU early enough where they likely won't spoil our season if we lose).

So you're saying that if we lose our three best players on offense, we likely won't be able to overcome it?

Shocking revelation.

No.

If we lose any of those guys the depth isn't there to overcome it.

Perry doesn't have a capable backup.

Walton doesn't have a proven backup.

Richards is the only sure thing at WR right now.

Herdon goes down and we're down to Irving and Polendey.

Took a handful of L's on this post

yep...Rosier, Homer, Berrios have far exceeded the expectation.

It's also great to see Dallas, Thomas, Harley already contributing as true freshmen.

Even Irving has solidified his role and plays a fair amount.

We saw what happened when Donaldson got hurt lol.

I think our ceiling is probably a top 10-13 team . We don't have enough depth at OL, DB, or RB to compete not to mention we'll have a green QB.

Stop sleeping on Homer, he will have a lot to say, soon enough.
I'm not sleeping on Homer. I actually think he's more talented than Walton, but the fact that we're even questioning our #2 RB is one of the reasons why we're not ready to compete.

That sounds stupid. Who is penn states second string running back behind saquon Barkley? Are you questioning their season because of that?....

Who is lsu's second running back behind derriuce guice? Are you questioning their season because of that? Come on now....

I think we'll see some interesting packages from Diaz this season. I expect 5-6 DBs and overload blitzes. I continue to repeat what the pass coverage evolution of our LBs will do.
Probably one of my favorite aspects of watching the last two games. Amari Carter as a roaming, blitzing athlete. Against ND, overload blitzes to their golden domes.

It seems like Phil Steele has always liked us, I think he picked us to win it all in 2005...and obviously, we haven't been that great since then...he really hit on this prediction this year though.

This team is probably my favorite Canes team to watch since 2003.

I mentioned this a few months ago but it's worth repeating:

- We have two competitive home games: VT and ND
- We have two (maybe three) competitive away games: FSU, UNC and possibly Pitt

UNC and VT are both in rebuilding mode with losses to key positions - I don't see us losing either of those games.
Pitt in late November could be a surprisingly competitive game, but again, I don't see us losing.
ND is the biggest question mark to me - we never should have lost that game last year and I have no clue how good they will be this year (toss up)
FSU is FSU and we'll be throwing a new QB into hostile territory in a prime time game - I'm quietly optimistic but I was quietly optimistic each of the last three years as well.

Looking at the above, I can't help but believe 10-2 is bare minimum this season. If we play consistent and our offense is able to keep our defense off the field at times, then we should have a solid 10 wins with an ACCCG booked.

Felt good about my assessment then and feel even better about it now. Cheers.

Kid appears to have the makings of a playmaker and looks to be physically ready as a freshman

Steele puts huge stock in recruiting rankings. He was coming up with a composite ranking before anybody. Putting each player's position ranking next to their name when discussing a team, which was unheard of in the 90's. We always outrecruit the rest of the Coastal by so much, Steele is always playing the recruiting % with us.

Think we have a projected Championship defense. The rest we'll find out soon enough.
Got some legit playmakers too. I think Njoku would have been a bigger help coming back than Kaaya, but we still have weapons.

Not sure about RB though. Walton is solid but beyond that, we have a lot of question marks.
RB questions certainly have been addressed.
