After bursting onto the scene as a junior at Columbus, 2020 3-star RB Henry Parrish has seen his recruitment truly explode. After receiving his Miami offer in November, Parrish proceeded to earn bids from schools like FSU, Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee, and Michigan in recent weeks as his tape began circulating through coaching circles.
“My junior year went great actually,” Parrish said. “I finished with 2,000 yards, and 32 TD’s.”
Of course, a lot has changed for the UM program since November, with the entire offensive staff gutted and Manny Diaz replacing Mark Richt as head coach. In Parrish’s mind, the moves have produced noticeable effects at Miami.
“They have more of a team vibe now,” Parrish said. “I like how everybody is just participating, is alert, and is surrounded with brotherhood.”
The 5’10” 175 pound back finds it difficult to describe why he’s interested in Miami, but recognizes there is a draw for him to the program.
“It’s not that it’s close to home, but I don’t know, I just like the U,” Parrish said. “It’s hard to describe, it’s just that feeling.”
Although he couldn’t make UM’s Junior Day event in early February, Parrish plans to be back on campus on Friday and get some recruiting in.
“I’ve been talking about coming and seeing the campus this weekend,” Parrish said. “We’ve got a track meet at UM on Friday.”
Miami’s current running back commit in 2020, Don Chaney Jr., has been vocal about wanting to add Parrish to the class alongside himself. The pair connected through track, and have stayed in touch these past few weeks.
“Me and Chaney have been talking about the track meet. We ran against each other at the last one,” Parrish said. “He just wants me to come out there to Miami, he says I’m gonna like it. I like Chaney.”
Even though he has no other visits planned right now, Parrish feels recruiting has been heating up now that the 2020 class are the main targets and new schools start hopping in every day.
“Recruiting-wise, it’s crazy. FSU, Utah, and Penn State be hitting me up,” Parrish said. “I haven’t been thinking about a top group yet, though. Probably over the summer.”
In the end, what does Miami have to do to stand out from all the others and earn Parrish’s commitment?
“Show interest. Be 100 with me, I’ll be 100 with you, we’ll go from there and just work.”
