And I will be pretty upset if we use our last LB spot on Terry McCray.

I would love to land one of the JUCO LBs like Smothers(awesome name for a LB lol) or Virgile(meanest looking mother f#@ka we are recruiting), both have solid film and experience along with having college ready bodies.

I would love to land Vincent Jackson especially b/c it gives us a great shot to land OG Isaiah Wynn to be the last piece to our OLine puzzle.

I also really like LB Sidney Gopre (Rutgers commit) that we offered about a month or two ago, he is an undersized LB 6'0/6'1 200/205 lbs who had 132 tackles, 41 tackles for a loss, and 5 sacks as a Jr. Kid almost reminds me of Sean Spence and I would love to flip him.

Check Sidney Gopre's film here:
(Comp isn't anything special but this kid can play)

def take jackson if that means landing wynn

No joke, after re watching Sidney Gopre's film, I want him to be in this class.

I really don't know how hard we are trying to flip him from Rutgers, but this kid has it between the ears to play LB at a high level.

Like Sean Spence he is skinny but seems to be at least 6'0 so bringing him in at around 6'0 190/200 would be fine (Same as Spence coming in).

And especially with us bringing in some bigger LBs in Juwon Young, Darion Owens, and Mike Smith as a LB/DE hybrid, we can afford to take a smaller more cerebral LB that knows how to read and react in a split second and can lay the lumber for a player his size. Kid also plays fast and has better stats than any other LB we are recruiting.

132 Tackles, 41 Tackles for loss, and 5 Sacks as a JR

Those are Spence/Perryman type numbers right there.

And yes I can see that the comp level is nowhere near what Spence and Perryman played against but kid is def a baller and I would love to close out our LB class with him.

I don't get why some think/expect Gaillard to be in this class. I know his coach is supposedly a fan, but there is literally no other indication of him feeling Miami.

Give me Cory Johnson (JUCO) and one of Moten/Holley/Sawyers and the DT class is beautiful!

I hope the staff is still on Rohan Blackwood because he is one of my favorite underrated (IMO) recruits of this cycle, unless Demetrius Jackson proves to be a manchild.

Here's a question, John Battle from Hallandale is a S committed to LSU...what's the opinion on him?

Sawyers just committed to Vandy

Mike Sawyers Jr ‏@MikeSawyers_75 3m

I am officially committed to Vanderbilt University.I'm going to get a world class education, win SEC championships, National Championships,

...And LOL @ SEC and National Championships

What happened with Kumalu? Didn't qualify? Is it the same with Aq Mohammad? Man we can't afford to lose any that have inked as DLinemen! I know Kamalu is listed as a DE, but they were probably going to try him at DT. He's certainly big enough. We gotta do something to change our DT recruiting fate. We've had several of the top DT's withing 30 miles snub us. Can any of the contributors here elaborate on what these guys are saying why not Miami. Especially with a high probability of playing early. Is it the DC. style of play, results etc?

Yesterday, I took a look at the offensive side of the ball (http://canesinsight.com/threads/53960-Numbers-Outlook-Offense) and tonight it's about the defense. If you add up the maximum number of projections for each position, that would be 31 for the class. The number will not necessarily be that high, but will will be close. Expected number of signees for each position is in parentheses.

DE (2)
Commits: Demetrius Jackson, Chad Thomas
Targets: Keyon Brown, Trent Harris, Kevin Bronson, Andrew Williams
Demetrius Jackson is really considered a hybrid guy, but with his frame we will see a lot of him with his hand on the ground. Chad Thomas is the obvious local stud, but Miami will have to fight off Louisville as well as Florida State. Keyon Brown has always been interested in Miami, but Georgia seems to have taken a lead with him. Trent Harris is a newer name, whose interest was really heightened by a camp trip last month.

DT (5-6)
Commits: Travonte Valentine, Dalvon Stuckey (JUCO), Courtel Jenkins
Targets: Mike Sawyers, Thomas Holley, Braxton Hoyett, Cory Johnson (JUCO), Lamont Gaillard, Claude Pelon (JUCO), Anthony Moten
Biggest need on the team without question. Valentine’s recent commitment was a shot in the arm, but the staff needs to make sure he is doing everything he needs in order to qualify. They will take at least one more JUCO in all likelihood. Hoyett will be a tough pull because he seems to be high on the SEC from what he’s told me. Holley and Gaillard are both long shots, but I wouldn’t count them out for Holley completely. Sawyers is the wild card because he is Corn Elder’s former teammate and he has legit interest.

LB (4)
Commits: Juwon Young, Darrion Owens, Mike Smith
Targets: Terry McCray, Antonio Smothers (JUCO), Keeon Virgile (JUCO), Vincent Jackson
This is a major strength of the class. Juwon Young looks like he could step onto the college field right now, Owens brings great versatility and length, and Smith has huge upside. Smith will play linebacker at Northwestern this season after playing primarily as a rush end last year (18 sacks). Ely’s Terry McCray is a candidate to be the next commitment.

CB (3)
Commits: Ryan Mayes, Dennis Turner, Nigel Bethel II
Targets: Chris Lammons,
Mayes and Turner are both solid, but the Lammons-Bethel dynamic will be one of the more interesting things to follow as the months wear on. I only see the staff taking one of the two, which would basically mean whoever committed first. I’m told Bethel wanted to be 100% sure of his decision and was not, so that is why he pushed back is announcement from Monday. Lammons looks like a true Miami-UF battle from talking to people who know him well. Mayes could play safety and it is very possible the coaches move him there once he gets on campus, but for now that is what they like him at.

S (2)
Commits: ATH Trayone Gray
Targets: Quinton Flowers, Montae Nicholson, Kyle Gibson, Marquese Dudley-Gordon
Before doing this breakdown, I didn’t realize how big of a need this is. After this season, the only three remaining are Bush, Jenkins, and Carter so it is very thin. These three are all potentially studs, but you need reliable players behind them as well. I put Trayone Gray here because I really think that’s where he ends up. Quinton Flowers would be a great fit here as well, but he is unwilling to play anything other than quarterback right now. I would like to see them stay local here. Cypress Bay's Dudley-Gordon won MVP at the first camp and Miramar’s Andre Godfrey is another potential late option.

Updated.

That DT board is getting mighty small.

Added some more names above, I am sure there are others we don't have a clue about.

Lambert recently announced a top 3 and we weren't in it.

I did forget Shaw and Williams however.
