Good arm strength as well. The thing these highlights won't tell you is how consistent he is with his accuracy and how quickly he can process information on the field...which happen to be THE two most important traits for a QB in my opinion.

Either way, good looking prospect.

Thats what you want out of your QB. Best are usually pass first guys. The guys whose for 1st instinct is to run usually don't last long.

I don't know why they negged you. Perry's tape looks very similar to Jacory's. Bunch of deep balls.

You gotta understand something, the average fan just likes flash. "Ooooh deep balls! Touchdowns! He's a stud!" Meanwhile he's just chucking the ball up to relatively wide open WR's.

Truthfully, this tape doesn't show me **** except that Perry can play backyard football. The Weldon kid's tape is by far more impressive.

Not saying Perry can't be good, he's obviously gifted, but nothing about his tape shows me that he's ready for the mental aspect of playing QB at this level. Doesn't look like he was coached much at all.
You watch the Weldon tape and you see a kid who has excellent footwork, who gets the ball out of his hands in a hurry and throws ropes all over the field (not just vertical).

Perry is raw for sure but his ceiling is well beyond Weldon. Also, Jacory's wasn't a bad prospect coming out. He, like Perry was raw but he never got the coaching he needed. He had Whipple asking him to throw deep with every team we played running 2 high safeties. It's no surprise his best season was when he finally got quality coaching from Fisch who put him in better situations.

Last time I saw a good footwork qb I was feeling was brad but give me the guy that just had it. Perry is a baller to me looks like a baller plays like a baller. U don't need footwork in college where Jackson who has zero mechanics won The hiesman where bumb *** tebow won n couldn't throw. Give me perry sauce all day

Perry or Weldon will be starting in 17'. Im gonna lean Weldon because he's an EE.

What worries me about Weldon is 20 INTs in 20 career games. Can't give the ball away like that.

If he was from Dade, D$ would be penciling him in for the Heisman after Winky Flowers because he would have those SFL intangibles.

Less than a minute into his film and I've already seen several throws that don't show on Perry's tape. Weldon's clearly a more polished QB. That post/corner throw is a thing of beauty and he's throwing ropes into the middle of the field. He has REAL footwork, not to be mistaken for the footwork yall think Perry has, which is actually just him mumbling around the pocket.

coach i could be wrong but he was doing crazy stuff against weak comp. to think he can come in late as a true fresh and do this in the ACC, i think fans are crazy

He's not back there, moping around in the pocket looking for an open guy. He's not a junkyard QB. That's why his tape shows him throwing every route in the book.

You can tell that he already understands coverages and where the "open" throw is against every coverage.

Allison will be the starter for the first game of the 2017 season. Up to him if he holds onto it...as for Perry, mechanics are horrendous. Throws off his back foot just about every time and locks on...somebody mentioned Japicky Harris earlier as a comparison and it's spot on.

Right now, yes. LOL

But I guess we'll have to see how Perry responds to coaching and also what we plan to do with him.

His dad was Heisman runner-up to Desmond Howard with Richt as his position coach. I'm sure Casey taught his son everything he knows Richt is looking for, including footwork, progressions, and everything else about Richt's offense. He has a 3/4 release but gets good velocity on the ball without always turning his shoulder. On top of that he's a physical specimen (without college S&C), looks tough, and seems pretty athletic. This kid has every advantage to succeed, including being an EE, and he'll make the competition very exciting..

All I care about is results. My main concern with our next QB does not show up on a highlight reel. Which one of these QBs is going to make plays when it matters most? When they have been hit repeatedly in front of a hostile crowd and mo is not with us, I want the QB that's going to make a play; I want the QB who isn't going to panic and who our players will rally around and follow with courage that overcomes their fears. Perry and Weldon have good highlights and great numbers. We need a QB with the heart of a lion and a honey badger's mentality. If that's Perry cool. If it's Weldon I'm good. At the end of the day the only stat that matters to me is wins and losses.
