I'm scared ****less. Hope Garvin has him ready for Zuniga. LT and RT are most likely the keys to the game against UF.

I don’t think people realize how truly remarkable this kid’s transformation has been. Just for perspective, Deejay Dallas was at a playing weight of 220lbs and 17% body fat (per post practice interview). Meanwhile, Zion is 290lbs at 14% body fat up from 240lbs in a 8 month span. Anyone that is into fitness or strength training knows this is an exceptional feat.

idk if Zion Nelson is good...a legitimate diamond in the rough...or we really just have a terrible offensive line with no one else to really man the left tackle position in this scheme.

I don't think Enos or Barry would put him out there if he wasn't ready. Plus, we'll have Lil Mike Irvin, Brevin and Will on heavy rotation for help. This isn't Radio, Richt or Folden anymore. We're putting our best 11 out there. Strap up your chin straps real tight.

Real question for all in the know. Taking our entire schedule AND Clemson (think big), will Zion see a better DE than Garvin?
If we end up playing Iowa (much different than Garvin), Ohio State or Alabama, they have guys comparable in impact to Garvin. I think Garvin is about to do some weird things this year. A full season of health, and he may get 10 sacks and 20 TFLs (total).

It could be a little bit of both. It's definitely the latter, but hoping he's the gem we've all heard about, too. I haven't seen the dude take a single snap in an 11 on 11 college-level football practice yet. Would love to get a glimpse of what he looks like against Garvin, Hill, Rousseau and Patchan.
At the very least, we have to assume he’s competent. If he’s not, then Barry is braindead, as this kid’s been the LT from jump street. It’s not like we don’t have the dudes at DE to test him. We’re not practicing against Saint Leo’s then hoping for the best when we toss him out there to face Reggie White. He must be passing all the tests.

The whole Zion thing makes my head spin...dude was 235 pounds as a senior in HS and he's likely going to be protecting our QB's blind side on the first snap on 8/24....just crazy. Really a testament to hard work!
What’s even crazier is if he makes Zuniga disappear (non factor/neutralized) during the game on Aug 24th, his name will begin to be mentioned on national tv as a true freshman. This is huge game and opportunity for him. I pray he is salivating.

I just posted about this. Zuniga is most disruptive when kicked inside on passing downs against guards. He was much more pedestrian as an edge rusher, lacks the twitchiness and speed needed to be elite on the edge.
I also remember him lining up a lot at Strong-side Defensive End or whatever it's called in their scheme. So maybe Zuniga will be mostly going against our RT.....Whatever the case we need to contain him by any means.
