I just posted about this. Zuniga is most disruptive when kicked inside on passing downs against guards. He was much more pedestrian as an edge rusher, lacks the twitchiness and speed needed to be elite on the edge.

Agreed. If you watch tape. He gets washed a lot on the edge and is more or less handled when rushing on the outside. He also gets in on a lot of tackles in support and is rarely the primary tackler.

I understand maybe the OL talent level isn’t where it should be but the guys we have weren’t scrubs
They were 3 and 4 star players. We should be recruiting guys that can come in and compete for playing time as freshman. It’s not always a knock on the upperclassmen sometimes the younger guy is just better. So let’s support our players instead of always trying to knock them down.
Nobody is knocking Zion. Nobody. some are just saying our program was so low that we lucked out with a 2 star coming back n to save the day. And really we don’t know how good Zion really is because he did not beat out anyone of substance.

If Zion starts this year and does well are we all saying Walker and Dumerville will not play much at left tackle? Of course not because our OL will be in a better spot one year from now and if one of those 2 freshman start over Zion it will be truly special. That is the situation we need to be in for this program to be on par with the elites.

This is why it’s not ideal to start a 2-star, true freshman LT against a Division 1 opponent week 1 with a redshirt freshman QB who has never taken meaningful snaps.

Sometimes this board is straight nuts.
