Muhammad Discusses Miami Decision

Tito Benach
2013 Don Bosco (NJ.) Defensive End Alquadin Muhammad committed to Miami during the Army All-American game and could be considered one of the top recruits Coach Golden has ever landed.

Muhammad talked about his reasons for committing to Miami and Coach Golden.

“I committed to Miami because I feel it’s the best fit for me and I feel comfortable. Coach Golden is a Jersey guy. He has a great personality and Miami never gave up recruiting me and always showed interest in me.”

Muhammad also enjoyed the academic aspect that Miami offered to him with small classrooms and it being a private school.

“I think the school is great and the campus is great. I also like how the classes are small, it’s not like going into a big class with a big lecture and the teacher not knowing me. Plus, it’s a private school and I went to private school in high school so it would be nice for me.”

Muhammad has already set goals for himself when he arrives at the school.

“As a freshman I want to lead the team in sacks, I feel as if that would be a big accomplishment.”

The Don Bosco product says he will play both Defensive End and a bit of outside linebacker while at Miami.

“I’ll be playing a little bit of both, but I think I will be playing Defensive End with my hand in the ground a lot more.”

Muhammad also spoke about what it was like to play in the Army All American Bowl Game.

“It was a great experience, I had a good game, we won and what’s better than that? My family was there and it was just a good time and a good experience.”

When asked if he is done with the recruiting process, Muhammad was very straight forward.

“Yeah, I’m pretty much done.”

Tito, when you spoke with him did you get the impression that he's a done deal?

Should of asked him about his grades and him being a "silent" to ND before they found out he had terrible grades.

That would be irresponsible journalism IYAM.

Tito is the out-of-state king.

There should be little doubt that Golden was the difference here. I don't even know who AQM's primary recruiter is. Everytime he talks it's always about Coach Al.

I was doing a little research on Bosco players not being eligible in college. I went back about 5/6 years and couldn't find one player has failed to qualify for the school they committed too. Bottom line is that Bosco expects its players to play D1 football and prepares them for this in the classroom and on the field. Haters just trying to rationalize the decision in their own minds.

The way Golden personally tweeted his 'Welcome to the U', it wouldn't surprise me if Golden was his primary.

"Plus, it’s a private school and I went to private school in high school"

something that I've overlooked with recruits coming out of private schools, wonder how much of a factor it played with Deon besides Duke committing
