Devon McDonald (ND--his less coveted twin Ricardo went to Pitt and I think came out a better player)

Derrick Brown -- best HS player in the country, TE from Merritt Island, went to ND and caught about 12 passes a year, became ordinary pro and disappeared into Oblivion.

Sterling Palmer -- first-off-the-bus DE from Ft. Lauderdale. Insisted on being a LB. Less than impressive at FSU. Pedestrian pro. (FSU seems to have a penchant for recruiting overrated LBs, all the way back to Keith Carter, Lamont Green, and that over-sized stiff LB a few years back. Lasted a year or two. Could hit like a truck but couldn't move.)

Another dud went to UF--OL Scott Joslyn. Lasted a year? USA Today First Team A-A.

We had our own USA Today Second Team A-A duds in Camerion Binion and Anthony Lewis.

Eric Metcalf was an OOS miss, although we were loaded at RB.

Full cycle? Diaz and his crew have had 3 years. Defensive staff hasn’t changed. They get no pass. They have failed countless times recruiting but people keep hyping up Banda while sh*tting on Rumph. Both have failed along with Patke. Jess is the only one who gets a pass on that side of the ball.
I agree with what u said those guys whiffed hard....im giving him next cycle but Jimbo was handcuffed by Bowden so we will see. Our closing on HS players is trash this cycle we got bodied. And I am one of the guys on here that says MD is a terrible recruiting so we will see if it changes.

Your right though in your post u speaking facts so facts r facts

Well the defnesivevstaff is exactly the same so there are no excuses for that side of the ball. The only six eof the ball whobgets a pass is the offense. Diaz and his crew on defense constantly striking out year after year can’t be explained away
Wow.. our defense must be terrible.

At this point, I'm confused how remedial you must be if you dont think Bama, as well as the rest of the SEC minus Vandy pay players. MAR is going to either UF or Auburn, and they cheat just like Bama does.

Let me guess, you think the NCAA isnt biased against Miami either.

Nobody is saying Miami cant recruit better. But it's dumb to somehow think Bama doesnt buy kids. **** even their own fans openly admit it on message boards
All I see are excuses in the above. Sure, yeah, bags, blah blah. Did bags not exist when Al Golden recruited Duke Johnson, Tracy Howard, Deon Bush and Ereck Flowers? How about Richards own brother? You’re smearing MAR with bags. Maybe he doesn’t want to come to UM because we recruited him for a position he doesn’t want to play, and ran a stanky offense that didn’t appeal to anyone who wanted to play RB anyhow?

In any case, I literally said the opposite of what you took away from my post, so you may be the remedial one. I haven’t denied bags. I’ve pointed out that they are what they are. If you accept as you say that we aren’t recruiting perfectly, or haven’t been, anyhow, then maybe save the bag excuses for another discussion. I’m not interested in complaints. I’m interested in what we can do better.

But players go to 5-7 Tennessee and 5-7 FSU to sit. Explain that

I have multiple times in other threads so I will say it again. F$U and UT who is in the $EC have more to sell than Miami. Get it?

I’m hoping it was something to do with a Richt and his plan more than it was Diaz sucking at recruiting. He is allowed one full cycle from me to see if he was being handcuffed by Pastor Richt. I like what I have been seeing from Diaz on social media so there is hope, but I’m cautiously optimistic from watching him and his cronies recruiting the last 3 years.

There was nothing approximating a "ranking system" for recruiting classes when Erickson was coaching. You had Bill Buchalter at The Orlando Sentinel, and you had vague claims made by local sportswriters, but there was no "top 10 ranking" during Erickson's time.
Bill Buchalter (Who's sister is a UM Grad) and USA Today was all there was during Ericksons tenure...

Im not complaining about what we have, just we will get a better perspective on what MD and his guys can do with a full cycle.
Which is why from day one, I have a wait and see attitude with this staff. I am thrilled with what MD has done in such a short time in th off season, but your point is right on spot.

Diaz killed the Transfer market but he failed to close on recruiting. This is still going to be the worst class ever and Diaz really did not do anything to improve the quality of it. I'm guessing he's not that solid of a recruiter. Oh well I guess it's going to take wins for us to get recruits again
Some of the dopiest **** I’ve read in a sea of inanity.

Some of the mongrels in here keep bemoaning this recruiting class because they can’t wrap their simple minds around the class being significantly better than the ranking due to the addition of a slew of really great transfers who will provide immediate help that most of the incoming freshmen could never dream of providing.

How do you think those transfers got here? Isn’t that still recruiting? Is it not considered recruiting because the dopey ranking doesn’t get effected by it?

That’s why I think getting Bogle would make statement ..very important

Seriously, I have a few Prep Star and SuperPrep magazines from back in the day, and also some Athlon season previews, and they absolutely had class and player rankings. ( And yes, I was/am a nerd for this kinda stuff, lol)

Mark AR is not really a big loss, skill position come a dime a dozen.
The kid not dumb , he wants to play early , he doesn't mind competition but He don't want no Miami Rb Competition though, Kid Don't wanna redShrt.

Didn't want to start a new thread - thought the folks here evaluating talent "on hand" and "incoming" might comment on our "realistic" 2019 prospects here. I hear a lot about 10+ wins and beating UF and with the new staff and excellent portal transfers we are supposed to rock more often than not. Win the Coastal, etc...

...but I see all these "too early Top 25" all show UF in Top 10, and besides Clemson, VT and Syracuse appear a lot in the Top 25. Even N.C. in one. But not one mentions us. Aren't these analysts as impressed by the transfers and other promising things as our CIS fanbase? If not, why the heck not?

Respectfully Disagree. They had max emfinger and some others. I always remember the classes being ranked. Definitely not as much information back then but there were a few serivces.

Im on wait and see as well....happy with the transfers hope Martel is day one starter but im hesitant cause i have been thrpugh this to many times and im waiting for the signs that we have the guy. We will know about a year from now. Most HCs say all the right things when they are hired which excites us but thats the plan ao we will see.

We looked like garbage in every game last year. We shouldnt be in the top 25 for that.
