There have been a few reports over the past couple of months that Miami commit Mike Smith was still open to listening to other schools. The hybrid pass rushing prospect says his commitment is strong.

“I am solid to Miami and will be visiting next Friday. I’m looking forward to sitting down with the defensive coordinator and talking about how they will use him. I think they’ll stand me up as a linebacker,” said Smith.

There was a rumor floating around that Smith had suffered a severe knee injury late in his season, but he says it was not too serious.

“It was a sprain, it’s alright and getting better. I will be fine for Miami.”

Smith is excited about the prospects of this recruiting class.

“The talent in this class is tremendous. The pass rush is going to be crazy. A lot of guys can do different things so I hope they can find a good fit for us to get to the quarterback.”

Miami’s rival won the title on Monday night and that caught Smith’s attention.

“It really motivates me watching Florida State win a national title as an ACC opponent because I know we are right there.”

Last week’s speculation surrounding Al Golden was something that Smith was paying attention to as well.

“I didn’t know if he was going to leave or stay because ESPN made it seem like he was going to leave so I wasn’t sure. It’s a good thing for the program that he is back.”

The Miami Northwestern product’s message to Miami fans as he prepares to enroll in a few months?

“Just watch.”

Wow! from a strictly pass rush prospective, he's one of the most talented I've seen on film. Owned Darlin in some of those highlights too

Hopefully McCord and AQM put on enough weight to be every down DE's and we can bring this predator in on 3rd and longs

How about,, we hope McCord and AQM somehow find a way to succeed in this scheme and allow Smith and Comp to gain some confidence and experience during the season..
No subtitution or special packages unless they are needed. Our studs players must play 80-90% of the snaps,, Especially at the DE position. Remember when McDougle and Williams were playing together., oh my..!

This dude is just a football player! All the cat does is make plays. Got more dogg in him that some other wannabe's. I like the defensive recruits, but it's hard for me to believe D'Nofrio won't fucq them up. D'Nofrio can't coach the defense he supposedly knows. How can you expect him to coach an aggressive defense he doesn't know? Hopefully he's a genius and it was just the players.

Football player.

MOAR of these.

this^

we have several in this class

may not have the most upside, but Powell is arguably the best pure highschool football player down here this year. Kid does everything and well.

Love watching Predator Mike hunt on film.

Probably my second favorite recruit behind Owens.

Yep, love this kid's film. He seems like a kid that we wouldn't typically recruit due to his size and would end up at a place like Louisville and wreak havoc. He also seems like a guy who just want to send out on the field and say "see ball, get ball."

Watch at the 1:07 mark..He blows up three blockers to make tackle...

kid plays just like #3 on Clemson..Vic Beasley.

Just relentless in pass rush and has his dip move in order already..Kid also showed he could put on weight as he looked close to 220 all year this year.

Good stuff Pete kid will be a nice contributor to our much needed pass rush. How do you like our chances with Tyrek Cole tomorrow?
