The Miami Hurricanes handled business vs the #18 team in the country in USF. Canes dominated physically and made explosive plays on both sides of the ball as the talent gap was on display EARLY. Lets get right into it!! #GoCanes

Carson Beck finally calls his own number in the zone read game as he reads the defensive end.

As the Defensive end crashes 11 makes the correct read and secures the first down.

Later in the game Beck uses his legs again in the zone read game this time in the Redzone. Adding another dimension to our attack.

High efficiency Redzone play out of 12 set. (2 TE & 2 WR) bunched in tight. We motion WR Tony Johnson to confirm man coverage. Joshua Moore takes a delayed release allowing his Tight ends to clear out before running his drag route which will put his defender in traffic.

Play 3 SS#5.png

This gave Moore the head start to race across the field for his first career TD. Just want to point out that if Beck wanted that slant to 17 it was there. He has created separation in man coverage in limited reps.

Play 4 SS#1.png

Play 4 SS#2 .png

The playbook while it wasn't fully opened up, we unleashed our tight split formations to take advantage of USF's aggressive Defense. 2 by 2 set we line up tight with #0 Marion showing his is a senior with veteran route running. He releases inside to attack the DB's outside shoulder, the flat route behind him will widen that corner on the outside. So by attacking that defenders outside shoulder then sit as the space opens up.

Play 5 SS#2.png

The Canes line up tight bunch again but this time sprinkle in a play fake to Fletcher. Meanwhile Daniels #7 and Marion #0 are going vertical to clear the defense out. Underneath Mali #10 is running the drag getting the defense to flow left. All while fletcher patiently waits then releases into the vacated area getting one of our best players in space.

Play 6 SS#1 .png

This is just domination by the entire offensive unit from OL-TE- WR to help create this explosive play.

Play 6 SS#2 .png

Center Brockermeyer #52 seals after Initial help from 63 Pancake who then slips to second level sealing the LB. Bell #70 lets the DE take himself out of the play and Mali #10 with a great block in the slot.

Play 6 SS#3.png

Play 6 SS#4 .png

This gets our 6'2 225 RB Fletcher #4 zooming downhill with the space to make a defender miss before taking it to the house. Another shout out being owed to Marion #0 for his continued blocking downfield which all but sealed the explosive TD run.

Play 7 SS#1 .png

Play 7 SS#2 .png

Play 7 SS#2 .png

PLAY 7 SS#3 .png

We come out in a Wishbone type of backfield with handing off to Fletcher#4 on this 4th and 1 who is able to let his blocks develop and cut behind to secure the first. USF sold out on that run and left Marty Brown #6 wide open in the built in flat route, the canes would circle back to this and catch USF for an easy TD.

Play 8 SS#1.png

Play 8 SS#2 .png

Bain has been so dominant for the canes. Here USF is trying to manufactuer a numbers advantage with the fake orbit motion bubble screen. They expect a chop block to take out bain ( Hate that players can just dive at players lower body) however like the All-American he is, he brushes off this contact and closes down on a skill player in space. Special.

Play 8 SS#3 .png

Play 8 SS#4.png

Play 9 SS#1.png

Finally! We see the return of the RPO packages. Beck is reading this #2 defender and if he stays put it's a hand off. However if he crashes down it opens up the slant right behind him.

Play 9 SS#2 .png

Play 9 SS#3 .png

Beck makes the perfect read and zips it in there for the 1st down. Would love this ball to be ahead of Marion to allow his game changing speed to become a factor after the catch but this is two seniors executing "Bread & Butter" plays.

Play 10 SS#1 .png

Play 10 SS#2 .png

Again the canes are in tight bunch sets. This is a fake screen to TE Lofton #9 meant to suck USF's defense to the LOS (Line of scrimmage) and slip our two WR's vertical. HOWEVER the spacing is off with #17 being at bottom of the numbers ( suppose to be towards sideline to away from the S out and create space) and #10 going up the top of the numbers.

Play 10 SS# 3.png

This congestion leads to Mali tipping the pass thinking it was intended for him. Beck had the right Idea to back shoulder this ball to #17 however he needed to 3-5 yards wider to give Beck the window. Feels like a waisted opportunity more than a mistake.

Play 11 SS#1 .png

Love this. By formation here in a 13 set ( 1 WR left 3 to right) which Isolates Marion #0 in Man v Man with a vertical route.

Play 11 SS#2 .png

Play 11 SS#3 .png

This was 11's best throw of the night. S help is in the middle of the field so he drops a moon ball over 0's outside shoulder to completely take the help over the top out of the eqaution as well as put the CB in an impossible position to defend.

Thank you everyone for checking this out if you made it this far! You can check out the full review on the CIS youtube channel with the video link above! The canes are rolling and there will be plenty of content coming including a WR room breakdown after next week's game vs UF. #GoCanes

Appreciate the write up

Loved Beck starting to put on film that you must respect the QB keeper so DEs stop recklessly crashing down on the RB… it will only help the run game

Dawson I thought had a great plan and I’m so glad to see we never took the foot off the gas even when Emory got in…

Nice breakdown. In watching a couple of the successful pass plays I noticed our TE running wide open but Beck wasn’t even looking his way. I’ve been wondering why the TE is not utilized in our Offense but maybe it is just Beck looking to go elsewhere with the ball. There are 2 plays where Bauman wasn’t even covered. Hope we can find a way to integrate the TE’s into the game plan because I think that would give our WR’s even more opportunities.

Thanks! #52 has been so much better run blocking than I expected. Was a bit worried in the offseason considering his grades last year and how bad TCU was running the ball, but he has been great.

Great stuff as always!

Someone could train a chatGPT agent to make us gifs/vids from the screenshots you guys grab.

Really has been great in both phases. Such a big portal addition. Just proves that despite issues at TCU Coach mirabal and Cristobal saw what they needed to turn him into a big addition!

Dawson addressed this in his presser. Said the TE was the primary on several plays but Beck went elsewhere. I think he said we hit on those plays anyway. The TEs will get theirs.
