The main thing to note — the horrific AP Poll officially does not matter. The only thing that matters is Tuesday.

Okay, you’re right. They do usually hold Miami and other ACC teams back like this. They do move teams forward ahead of teams on byes if they are in the SEC or Big 10.

I just don’t know what I was thinking.

Sigh.

It matters only because it shows what the CFB world is thinking. And the CFP committee usually is thinking similarly to the rest of the CFB world. That’s all.

I will say, if you really plug into the Pates and Cover 3s and other hardcore CFB media outlets — they all kind of trash the AP poll. I think the AP poll is a collection of regional journalists who don’t actually watch the games and the CFP committee aligns more with the deep analysis media more. Which benefits us.

For example, I could absolutely see us jumping Vandy in the CFP poll.

CFP based on the AP rankings (I know the committee is not bound by the rankings) would be the AP top 10 + ACC champ (it will be Miami on selection show because we’re highest rated ACC team, but most likely is probably GT or Virginia) + G5 highest rated champ (North Texas?). 5 SEC, 3 B1G, Big 12, ACC, ND and G5. SEC getting almost half of the spots.

Yeah, I do like Pate’s videos on the AP Poll, especially in the beginning of the season because they really show the preseason rankings bias.

But I’m not convinced we (or any ACC team) can jump anyone from the SEC or Big 10 in the CFP poll. It’s too political and the machine is too powerful.

IMO, our best opportunity really is winning out big and then the CFP takes the initiative to **** the Big 12 based on the way Indiana and SMU went last year.

Yes.

Last year the committee moved Alabama up one spot (jumping only us) while we were on a bye. They beat Mercer 52-7.

We just beat NC State 41-7. You think the committee does the same for us on Tuesday?

Committee. Not AP poll.

We’re cooked bro
Possibly, but to be sure the only thing cooked are the F**king books. These mfer’s are desperate to squeeze every dollar out of the playoffs. It’s the brand. SEC/BIG10 brings more money to their coffers. The playoff format is just the dog and pony show for EQUITY and INCLUSION. Might as well be the Mexican Donkey Show. Money talks, and these mfer’s are saying NO to us. Not bc the ACC isn’t deserving enough. We just aren’t deserving at all in their world.

If it's about branding and dollars, we are a lock to get in over BYU, Utah, and Vanderbilt.
