Miami has landed a crucial piece for their 2026 squad with the addition of NC State catcher Alex Sosa.
A rising Junior originally from Viera, Florida, Sosa slashed .291/.401/.534 with 16 doubles and 10 homers for the Wolfpack last year.
At 6-foot-1, 207 pounds, Sosa has consistently been a part of the NC State lineup for the past two years, being a crucial left-handed bat in the lineup while providing solid defense behind the plate.
One of the best catchers in the ACC last year, this is a huge get for this Hurricane team who looks to make that next jump to return to Omaha. Speaking of Omaha, Sosa has experience from his Freshman season where he tallied two hits in an elimination game against Florida.
Currently, Sosa is playing his summer ball up in the Cape for the Brewster Whitecaps where he’s teammates with the main man Daniel Cuvet himself.
With Sosa's addition, this Hurricane lineup could be one of the deadliest in years pending the return of certain players.
Possible Lineup with Sosa addition:
1. Jake Ogden - SS/RHB
2. Max Galvin - LF/LHB
3. Daniel Cuvet - 3B/RHB
4. Alex Sosa - C/LHB
5. Derek Williams - RF/RHB
6. Brylan West - 1B/RHB
7. Cian Copeland - DH/LHB
8. Vance Sheahan - 2B/RHB
9. Mikey Torres/Fabio Peralta - CF/LHB
Sosa becomes the sixth portal addition for the Hurricanes, joining RHP Michael Taylor, SS/2B Vance Sheahan, 1B Brylan West, RHP Easton Marks and 1B/3B Cian Copeland.
Look for Miami to stay active in the portal, with multiple arms still being looked at as players can begin visiting schools.
