Today is another big day in Coral Gables as Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes host over five recruits, including Cincinnati transfer wide receiver Tony Johnson.

Tony is a three-star transfer portal wide receiver. Although he was not rated out of high school, he hails from Ocala, Florida, which is about five hours away from Miami's campus in Coral Gables.

Tony is a 5-foot-11, 185-pound receiver who recorded 48 receptions for 449 yards last season. Johnson was a key player for Cincinnati during his lone season with the program, having transferred from FAU last year.

During his time at FAU, he recorded a total of 669 receiving yards over two years, catching 60 passes and scoring seven touchdowns.

Miami is hosting NC State linebacker Kamal Bonner, Florida safety Gregory Smith III, and Texas kicker Bert Auburn, as reported by Gaby Urrutia of 247Sports.

not bad..if we get him wouldnt mind it need two guys

We don’t him , another Smurf

Do we have a fetish for WRs under 6 feet?

Don't get this take unless they don't trust the young WRs (extremely valid, just would rather rock with what we have unless they're exceptional, and this guy isn't that).

Those drive in runs sometimes too.

I don't expect a ton but the overall numbers were/are slightly thin (no pun intended on this kid's frame).

I believe this now gives us 9 scholarship WRs, not including Bryce Fitzgerald. Really didn't want to go into the season with only 8, with 4 of those being either true freshmen or Chance Robinson, who may or may not exist. Daniels is really the only adult in that room, if the staff feels this kid can also be that, no harm in bringing him on.

FSU boards melting down right now 🤣🤣

If they're melting down over Tony Johnson, that just proves their ineptitude.

Melting down over a guy that's never had more than 450 yards in a single season lol.
They can’t buy a recruit. Literally and figuratively

Raises the floor of the WR room I guess. Really all we can hope for with what's in the portal currently.

All this does is **** off young guys and drain budget. This is compeletly replaceable production that we can probably find on our current roster. We need ceiling raisers or nothing.
More like strike out on passed ball and safe at first on fielding error.

I guess we need bodies at WR

I’ll give a him a bit more credit than that…but this isn’t a 105 mph infield single. Like a swinging bunt that’s a close play at 1st
