Miami hires Michigan Recruiting Coordinator Doherty

Sources tell CanesInSight.com that Mark Richt has hired Matt Doherty, Michigan’s current Recruiting Coordinator, in the same role. Doherty was the former Assistant Director of Football Operations and Director of Player Personnel at Miami from 2011-late 2014.

The 30-year-old Doherty is a 2008 graduate of Miami’s school of business administration. He began his career in 2009 as a scouting assistant with the New England Patriots.

Eric Josephs and Jorge Baez will remain on staff.

Great point. Evaluations are a big strength of his. He knows what a Miami athlete looks like.

not greatly impressed by the 4 Michigan pulled from SFL this year.... Devin Gil is an FIU caliber talent, Bush is decent, Uche has upside and looks like we got a better TE in their back yard, but no elite pulls. Doesnt seem like they even went after any premier kids down here this year

Well was this a great catch by Doherty or did it have as much or more to do with the hiring of Gary's father as an assistant coach? Or were you talking about someone else?
