Blanche Ely’s Terry McCray was one of Miami’s top remaining linebacker prospects on the board and has been rumored to be the next commitment for the past month. The rumors have now been put to rest, as he committed this morning to the Hurricanes.
“It’s been on my mind for a while. I just wanted to make sure it’s okay with family with my decision. While I was there it was just something that made me want get it over with and commit to the school I’ve wanted to commit to.”
McCray was down in Coral Gables today for a visit and spent a lot of time with the staff not only touring the campus, but speaking with each other.
“They were acting like they won an award or something when I committed. I talked to a few of the players and I got to talk to the staff. They were just showing me around and while they were showing me around I was loving every bit of it.”
The 6’2, 220 pound rush-end prospect gave his verbal to Miami and now states he is a strong commitment, but may be looking around in the future.
“It’s a hundred percent right now. In the future I’m not too sure, but right now it’s a hundred percent.”
The Blanche Ely product is now glad to have the process over with and is looking to help his team make a title run.
“Right now, I’m just trying to get my team better and get them all on the same page so we can make a state championship.”
McCray got some inspiration from his cousin who happens to be a former Hurricane, Teraz McCray.
“He just told me to go for it because I can get a lot out of it and that it’s a great school education wise and I can play on a great team as well.”
McCray spoke with Coach Golden today and truly believes Golden can lead this team back to it’s glory days.
“He asked me about my personal life and a little about football and my passion. I think he is a good person, he likes to get down to business and I think he is taking Miami in the right direction. Soon, I think Miami is gonna be that team to beat just like the 2002 team.”
As finals words for the Hurricane fans, he left a short quote.
“Fear the tie! (Laughs)”
