Malachi Toney recommits to Miami

Blue-chip WR Malachi Toney has recommitted to the University of Miami.

The 5'10.5, 182-pound WR had opened his recruitment after reclassifying into the Class of 2025 and visiting Alabama. The American Heritage product is having a sensational final season, grabbing 54 receptions for 964 yards and 12 TDs through nine games.

He made an impact both ways in last week's win over St. Thomas Aquinas, scoring a long TD and snatching the game-sealing interception.

Toney is the 22nd commitment in the Class of 2025, joining QB Luke Nickel, RB Girard Pringle, TE Brock Schott, TE Luka Gilbert, WR Josh Moore, WR Daylyn Upshaw, OT Jaden Wilkerson, OT Demetrius Campbell, OG TK Muex, OG Max Buchanan, OC SJ Alofaituli, DE Herbert Scroggins, DT Donta Simpson, DT Mykah Newton, LB Gavin Nix, LB Ezekiel Marcelin, S Hylton Stubbs, DB Amari Wallace, DB Bryce Fitzgerald, DB Tim Merritt and CB Chris Ewald.

So is this Dawson’s fault?

Cause when we miss on def players, it’s Guidry’s fault as of late. So talk to me, if this kid doesn’t sign here, who gets the blame? Especially since we upped the bag for this one, right?

KB imo. Sfla kid who committed when we were trash last year. Should be a lock

I mean I agree with you all. That ? was for the ones who blame Guidry’s inability to recruit for our defensive whiffs, and nothing about Mario/their position coach. Same should apply here, no?

LOL we're going to have 4 WRs in spring practice. 2 that have been injured and only 1 who has caught more than 3 passes.

5 WRs if Ray Ray sticks around. Still makes it only 1 WR who has caught more than 4 passes.

Looks like we're going to revert back to Mario ball fellas

This kid has shaken us down multiple times. Probably saw we paid up to keep Moore.

And here’s how that conversation went down.

CaneSport: “Hey Malachi, just checking that you are still signing with Miami today?”

Toney: “I’m not signing today.”

CaneSport: “Will you still be signing with Miami at some point?

Toney: “I’m not sure.”

CaneSport: So there are other schools you are still considering?

Toney: “I really can’t say.”

CaneSport: Will you still be signing in the early period or are you waiting till February?

Toney: “I’ll sign in the early period.”

CaneSport: “A website reported you already signed Miami papers, did you sign anything?”

Toney: “I have not signed anything.”

So yeah, there’s a little bit of drama here, and CaneSport is continuing to track down information on this and will update as we get it.

Based on that interview, GONE....
