Miami continues its impressive run of talent acquisition with the commitment of wide receiver Shemar Kirk from Reedley College (CA). Kirk, a Tennessee native, announced his decision to join the Hurricanes on Saturday night, following an official visit to the campus last weekend.
The 6'1", 180-pound receiver Kirk was drawn to the prospect of becoming an integral part of Miami’s new offense under the tutelage of Shannon Dawson.
In his two years at Reedley College, Kirk displayed exceptional performance with 76 receptions, 1,446 yards, and 15 touchdowns in just 18 games. Additionally, he showcased his skills as a kick returner, scoring a touchdown in his freshman year. Kirk's versatility makes him an immediate impact player for the Hurricanes, who have been seeking such talent since the arrival of head coach Mario Cristobal.
The wide receiver chose Miami over several other schools including Mississippi State, UCF, Washington State, Texas A&M, Purdue, UNLV, and Colorado. Kirk joins a Canes receiver group that has become more formidable this week with the additions of Kirk and Alabama WR transfer Tyler Harrell.
Over the past two seasons, Kirk has accumulated impressive statistics with 1,446 yards and 15 touchdowns, demonstrating his potential to make an impact in Miami's lineup. Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George, Colbie Young, Tyler Harrell, Brashard Smith, Isaiah Horton, and others — including freshmen Robby Washington and Nathaniel Joseph — have the opportunity to thrive in the revamped passing attack.
