Okay not through water on everyones parade but doing a little math I am coming up with some things that don't add up:

East LA College cost: Instate $46 / class Credit hour
Out of State $196 Non-Resident Fee + $46 Enrollment Fee / Class Credit hour

ELAC Tuition site
http://www.elac.edu/studentservices/studentfees.htm

So at an out of state cost of $236 per credit hour Campbell had an estimated Semester cost for four 3 credit classes of lest say $3000(for easy math) plus another $1000 for books for a total of $4,000 which is covered by his FFA aid package.

So coming from a disadvantaged background there is still alot of Financial Aid available to cover this youngs mans expenses out side of tuition FFA takes into account living expenses as well as tuition.

Those are the programs listed at his school that he could apply for.
http://www.elac.edu/admission/finaid/typeOfFinancial.htm

Based on need he could have applied for Stafford Loans of $4500 (Freshman) & $5500 (Soph) this is addition to his Athletic Scholarship and since he mentioned his family was low income he now also qualifies additional funding in the form of Grants $5550(Fresh) & $5200 (Soph). So this kid some how left $10,000 a year in financial aid on the table uncollected to instead live in a car. Sorry I am calling BS on this one based on the numbers and know the FFA system.

Federal Pell Grant- awarded to qualified undergraduate students, award eligibility is calculated based on a students Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Disbursement of funds is prorated based on enrollment status. As a result of the changes made by the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2012, the duration of a students eligibility to receive a Federal Pell Grant is now limited to the equivalent of six years.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)*- awarded to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need. Disbursement of funds is based on enrollment status. Minimum enrollment requirement is half-time status.

Then the is literally 32 pages of scholarships for minorities his school is affiliated with, so your telling me he could qualify for any BULL CRAP this kid could be bothered to apply in 15 minutes I found 4 scholarships on the list that literally give you some money for being black and in college with a passing grade and financial need.

If he spent less time on tweeter and more time handling his business looking for scholarships he would be better off. Young man God helps those who help themselves.

Again I wish him good luck in his journey but, don't take advantage of people caring nature when you have placed yourself in a situation purposely.

I feel for this young man but he was waiting for things to be handed to him, when in life you have go and make it happen.

Go Canes!

All of that, and you didn't factor in room and board, based on the cost of living; in California.

A 1 BR apt ranges from $900 - $2000/mo.

The average inner city mother can't take care of her home, and send that amount of money via WU every single month.

No I am not creepy Mirvin88, I am just smart and informed. As some one who has two bachelors degrees should be or anyone who attend any college for that matter. College us A privilege that should be earned and fought for, so know your rights an the resources available. There are people that came before that died so myself and people like me could have a good education an that is something I take seriously.

So if that is what your calling creepy then mirvin you need to get yourself checked out.

Go Canes

i understand your point of view but im sure you wouldnt choose to be homeless thats not anything to be played with, having a fake gf(which he doesnt ive checked) is a diffrent story. dont get me wrong your heart is in the right place (if your trying to help and not just say hes a liar) alot of people are misinformed im sure hes not the first or last

Paranos is crap in this thread.

RecruitingTalk may not be -- not an aggressive dude, but certainly takes some of the "feel good" from the original article.

When I get home I'm gonna play on Rivals and see if I can't find some of what RT was referring to.

Either way, if his tape passes muster, I don't care if he was living at Hefner's place the last two years. We need DTs and we need 'em now!

You guys are missing an important fact re 'recruitingtalk' ! He has repeated his story more than 2 times --- so it must be true!
err, wait a minute -- Peter, how many times did Demetrius Campbell tell you his story?

I noticed a link to this article on Twitter and followed it to see the latest from Campbell. Let me start by saying I work in the recruiting industry and know Demetrius' situation very well. So I should begin with telling you that almost everything you read there was a lie and it's not the writer's fault, Campbell does this to everyone in the business. He was never signed by West Virginia, in fact they don't think he has ever been to their school in an official capacity. He is not homeless or at least he wasn't as of a few weeks ago. He's a nice kid but unfortunately he lives in a fantasy world. Go to the major recruiting networks and look at his profile. You'll notice that last summer many sites were writing articles on him and he was telling fabulous stories at that time. Now pay attention to how the articles dropped off, how he never took the official visits to the BCS schools that were supposedly all over him. I've spoken to writers from each of the big time schools he talks about and most fell for his lies in the beginning and then when they checked with their inside sources (coaches) they found there was no truth to it.

I hate to sound like I'm attacking the young man's character but I get really upset seeing fans from several schools fall for lies and get excited over a player that at best will likely end up at UTSA. And don't feel dumb, every forum does this when an article comes out and leads them to believe he's a big time player that slipped through the cracks.

Got any proof?
This. Can you post links to a site that proves what you are saying is correct? Not saying you're a liar but you can't accuse someone of lying and not have evidence for it.

Why does he need proof? Does the Campbell kid have any proof? I smell a rat. I wanted to buy into this kid's story, but now, I don't know. It will all play out, and we'll see if this is a hoax. He's just better at it than that kid in Nevada who pulled the hat trick to say he was going to a school that never recruited him.

Every once in a while you run into somebody who's truly delusional, someone who lives in a complete fantasy world and is adept at dragging a lot of other people into it.

Wow I feel for this kid. We need him in the worst way, not only for football but as a mentor to some of the young knucklehead's who think that the world owes them something. Aka Eddie Johnson.......... I pray for nothing but the best for this young man......Cmon jethro make him a cane and Im willing to bet that he will be the next Warren Sapp.

Mr. Campbell, you are the Man. Very impressive. Cane history has many greats who had the burning desire to be at The U that you show. May The Good Lord reward your determination and faith with not only a full ride from my school but the championships rings that player like you have obtained before. Of all the DT's we want this year, I want you more than any 5* 17 year old. You have the heart of a Cane already. God Bless you and may His Holy Mother watch over you.

Kid's a great story .... should be hungry and super role model to younger players. HOWEVER ......... if he couldn't pass academic muster at Freaking WEST VIRGINIA (where you can qualify if you can spell your own name correctly) it's difficult to see how he could ever qualify at The U. Hard to really do well academically when you're sleeping on locker room benches, but hope SOMEHOW he's done it and can land at Coral Gables.

Holy **** this kid is unreal. He is so mentally strong, strong willed, humble and grateful. I want him to be a Cane for sure he deserves every blessing he ever gets. He would work his *** off from jump and could be an even more amazing success story than Jimmy Graham.

ditto that man!

his offer list is really strange.

When did he sign with West Virginia?

Doesn't appear as if he ever signed with West Virginia in looking through their commitment lists. Maybe he was committed there and never signed?

offer list according to scout, where he's a 2013

Boise State Med Interest Yes None
Florida Atlantic Med Interest Yes None
Michigan State Med Interest Yes None
Nebraska Med Interest Yes None
Oregon State Med Interest Yes None
Texas State Med Interest Yes None

Rivals list

Something seems a little off with his offers. Not saying his story isn't true, but he definitely never signed with WVU and I get the feeling that some of his big offers, aren't real
