Unless this guy is an absolute monster, give me Rohan Blackwood instead! Similar type of prospect, but he has proven he can do it on the field

They offered Blackwood. He hasn't said yes.

I know. I'm just wondering if this will curb their efforts in continuing to recruit blackwood. You can only take so many weakside DE in a class. They are very similar prospects physically.

I think we're trying too hard to be the smartest guys in the room with some of our recent commits.

They weren't the smartest. They offered after the staff who won the Big 10 three straight years and after the staff that won the Big East and crushed Florida in the Sugar Bowl.

and rosier, herndon, turner, gray, young?

Turner, Gray, and Young are all players. You conveniently left out Owens.

Stargazers in disguise around here, SMH.

I didn't conveniently leave out Owens. I left him out because he has a ton of offers from a ton of coaching staffs at big time programs. Very different from the other guys I named. I figured leaving him out would be your first clue that your premise is **** but you decided to make yourself look foolish anyway.

Moreover, if stars are what I was worried about, there are a half a dozen other names I could have thrown out there.

Two on your list didn't have an offer from ACC or SEC school. Rosier and Gray. QBs are an eye of the beholder type of thing and Gray earned his after showing out in front of the coaches at camp. We'll see how the guys who committed get recruited throughout the season.

Wow negging me right before I'm about to clarify what I was saying regarding stargazers, namely that there are stargazers around here who are apprehensive about our recent run on recruits because they're either NR or now 3 stars. You leaving out what some believe is the highest rated kid would fit that pattern perfectly as that's cherrypicking and thus making my point.

Moreover, Young's offer sheet includes SEC schools and is limited by grades concerns more than anything. I don't see the problem with moving on from the game players and trusting the staffs evaluations. If we don't get it done this year, then we can break out the 'boo this man' gifs.

Don't be so ******* soft-shouldered, Jack. Quite the butthurt over a two sentence post.

fair enough...much better post than the guy above me. If they start to impress other coaching staffs enough to get an offer from them, I'll start to feel better about some of these takes. Until then I think there are questions. all I'm sayin'

Stingrov, I got mad respect for you as a poster playa but on that list of kids you named we cannot say that Herndon, Turner, Mayes, or Rosier are "players" just yet. (not including Jackson cuz thats obvious cuz buddy hasnt even played a season of ftball yet). I need to see these kids senior year before we start giving a legit opinion. Not saying they arent worthy of UM offers but im not ready to say we didnt sorta kinda "reach" for them either.

Disclaimer: I am starting to trust Al like I trusted Butch when its comes to talent eval so I do plan on at least 2 out of every 4 "reaches" he takes to pan out. I will take those odds any day. Supplement those with the superstuds we bring in and thats a championship formula.

I agree on Herndon Mayes and Rosier completely but I'm withholding judgment and willing to say **** it and trust this staff's evals is the point.

The point you're making is stupid because the guy I "conveniently" left out is ALSO 3 STARS...and so is Edouard, Jenkins, Linder, Smith, Mayes, etc.

According to rivals, Young's offer sheet only includes 1 SEC offer. Supposed to be impressed by Ole Miss?

Stop taking your cues from the other clowns on this board and learn to have a proper discussion

My response would be to stop taking clues from offer lists. Young has plenty of film out there. You can judge for yourself. Its what we're on this site for. Giving opinions. As uninformed as they may be.

You're supposed to be impressed by the kid's tape if you watch it. Or the fact that the staff offered. This same **** was said about Kaaya and that turned out the way it did for a reason, and that is the staff going with their evaluations. You want offers from Tennessee and Crystal Ball, fine, I understan that, and that's great, but if the staff thinks these are rough around the edges type of kids with massive upside a la the way Butch recruited his kind of kids, then that's exactly what we should be shooting for. I'll take your word for it that you aren't into the stars and are just comparing offers, fine. But frankly I want the worker types, the risers, not the diva types, like Franchise said the other day. And from the interviews & impressions, these kids seem to be it.

Young claims offers from Ole Miss and Auburn, and said he expects Georgia soon too if I recall correctly. Others have said it's because of grades. Darrion Owens is a 4* on 247, not that I give a ****.

We're making an an early offer on a guy based on one spring game????? Sounds somewhat absurd, especially given that it appears the other team was massively overmatched.

So what happens if this guy has a terrible fall? We're stuck. This just seems off to me.

Can somebody call Al a cab? Tell him to back away from the bar. He's a a Recruit Scripp Club makin it rain schollies. It's June..... Lol.

You could be on to something. Only thing I can really say is these guys have been very consistent with the types of athletes they recruit. Only time will be able to tell the story though.

How are we stuck? You don't think somehow someway Jackson would find his way out of the class if he doesn't perform? His spring film probably consists of multiple scrimmages and practices along with the game against the overmatched team.

Boy, another reach.

He is more unknown than reach. The only people that have seen him play are coaches and people who have gone to Booker T practices and scrimmages. In that limited time he got offers from a staff that won the Big 10 three years in a row and the Big East champs. Kid must be somewhat impressive.

Nowadays you see these freak of natures go early in the draft who nobody saw coming so why cant this kid be the next guy?
