This should just confirm that Ice was never pushing players away from Miami. This guy has built and maintained the top high school program in the country. Huge

Please stop.

Stop what?

Stop jumping to conclusions. I could spin it this way: "Isn't Al Golden such a forward thinker that despite Harris pushing kids away and ripping him to the local papers he hired the local high school legend after mending fences. Golden is really smart and doesn't hold a grudge. It can only help him secure more top prospects in the area."

I have no idea if that is true, but I could make it work if I defended Golden as hard as Ariz defends Ice.

Let's separate three things.

1. Is Ice Harris a good HS coach?

YES

2. Will this help in recruiting?

YES

3. This should just confirm that Ice was never pushing players away from Miami.

HUH

Just admit it.. you don't want to being wrong. Whether true or not... you just dont want to give up the notion that M. Thomas and Kirkland really just wanted out of Miami or we only wanted one for the other! Admit it.

Exactly how many kids does Ice get credit for pushing away from Miami besides M. Thomas who was NEVER coming in the first place?

This right here...Him getting the job doesn't in the least bit prove/disprove what may have gone down 2 recruiting cycles ago

What in this post was inaccurate?

"By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away."

This proves nothing other than he was hired by Miami. I like how you throw in the Ice was never pushing players away from Miami.

It's a significant leap to think this hire necessarily proves Ice wasn't pushing players away from Miami. In fact, it'd be easier to argue that this move was made because he was leveraging his position against Miami's interests. In either case, the point is this just proves Ice "had" something (influence, etc.) that Miami wanted to secure.

Let's not waste time on what I think or you think (in regards to pushing kids away from Miami), this is irrelevant.

My only point is that this doesn't prove the following: This should just confirm that Ice was never pushing players away from Miami.

by all accounts, randy Shannon should have cleaned up recruiting in dade and broward. he was a black head coach at a big time school. from the projects, played hs and college ball in the city of Miami. who better to relate to most of these kids and what black family wouldn't send their kid to UM to ensure one of their own (a black man) succeed at the highest level? what local black hs football coach wouldn't send their kids to UM, opening the door for more black coaches to get a shot in a world dominated by white head coaches at the college level?
it didn't play out that way and how much of that was Shannon and was there any jealousy at the hs level?
I love the move and think it will pay dividends but I also see the politics and petty bs down here and can see some other black hs coaches being jealous and not wanting to see ice succeed.
who knows.

It could be "easier to argue" this if that's the only arguement you're open to interpret.

It could also be "esier to argue" that there really was no rift between the two other than media board hype.

See how that goes?

Yeah, I see how that goes. That's exactly the **** point. The argument can be made both ways. This "proves" Ice had something Miami wanted to secure.

Treon knew his dad was coming to Miami and didn't choose to come here. It is ridiculous to think he will be transferring when he has not even stepped on campus at UF/

Exactly, He didnt want to be a Cane and chose UF where he has to face a 5* QB that is pretty much promised the job. Good luck Treon!

Touche'

But besides Thomas and Kirkland.. who else did he "push away" ... Most dudes are hanging their arguements on M Thomas who was never coming.. the year following we sign the best DE in the state, arguable a top 5 DE in the other, we almost snagged the Qb in the end (which we mishandled) and a legend of a CB ...

This whole pushing kids away from Miami is dumb.

Evolve and move the fugg on already.

It's late, but still a good hire.

Florida would never grant him a release that includes Miami as an option. Pointless no matter how you look at it.

I started typing this before your edit of "In either case, the point is this just proves Ice "had" something (influence, etc.) that Miami wanted to secure." ... I can agree with that. But your point was what you wrote unless Im misinterpreting it "In fact, it'd be easier to argue that this move was made because he was leveraging his position against Miami's interests." .. I could be misinterpreting that wrong as I said but it sounds like you're saying this was a move by Golden to keep a snake on a leash

florida would grant him a release to UM. they aren't playing UM in treon's career unless a bowl game. brock berlin? he'd get a release to UM and sit out a year. ****, he could just sit out this year and redshirt 2014.
