I dont know man...the current staff arent the best LB evaluators. Manny historically isnt the best...we shall see. They made others more of a priority earlier as alot of the guys were in that East vs West junior game (Florida) that they either saw or scouted. Then they doubled back. They focused out of state more earlier. When they double backed early int he spring..what do you know there is a 6'0 225 pd kid tearing up camps. Then they offered.

We are/were in play with alot of big timers at LB like Flowe, Simpson (Nc) the board is constanly changing. A lot of guys they were in on early i never liked much like Mccluster for example. Last year they were all over 6'0 180 pd Solomon...im constantly confused on their recruiting. I loved the Huff and Brooks takes though

Right on! McCluster is overrated glad he went to the panhandle. Besides him i think they're doing a better eval this year than last. I like majority all the offers so far and the commits. I just dont get the deal with Hyppolite. Seems like the staff isnt making him a priority. What you hearing on your end now that he at your alma mater?

Offering him late never made any sense given our situation. We are losing 3 starters and have zero proven depth behind them. This kid is 220, runs a 4.54 40 time, a 4.40 shuttle, and a 31.50 inch vertical leap and we waited to offer him... smh. This kid should be at Miami.
Previous staff was focused on bigger LBs.
On another note.... NOBODY noticed his 40 time is .02 behind Avante Williams'! Williams is a track guy and won Paradise Camp's Fastest Man competition. 😲 The future at LB is bright if we can lock him down

He's 6'2 220, Has good coverage ability, recognition. And wants to be real good a leader type. He has played multiple positions and is flexible.
Plays on the best program in florida year to year. I dont know alot of reason's. He and Hyppolite are the best in south florida.
He has yet to play LB but you like him at LB smh.. meanwhile, Flagg is ok tho but he’s a tackling machine that HAS ACTUALLY PLAYED LB pretty **** good. Ok gotcha.

that would be a problem with most players, but Wingo is different. He is super athletic, shows instincts, and can cover well, he does all the things that a usual prospect in his situation would be suspect at very well.

He just doesnt get it. Wingo isnt really a tweener type...most of what he does translates. Its almsot like saying Glen Cook would project as abetter backer to his teammate Jon Beason because he plays in the middle at line backer, while Beason is playing rb, te, and safey on defense.
If Wingo would commit here (no shot) he's a kid that would be challenging to start as a freshman honestly.

But dont want to spend alot of time on him or Hyppolite...two kids we likely dont land or are behind on.

Flagg will do his thing, and if we get Cave they are a good pair to start with

I do get it. LB is more than just being athletic, that’s McCloud. Wingo you in love with him bc he’s athletic only bc it’s no proof of anything else but Flagg is just ok but he has dominated the position. Broward and Houston are the same type of athletes and football too.

Mccloud couldnt play any position on offense. Wingo was likely STA best qb 2 years back. Mccloud isnt even as athletic as Wingo. I like him because he is a good football player and flexible and SMART.
Houston is good football...it aint South Florida.

But over the years we have passed on a BUNCH of Flaggs in South Florida who have went on to be productive lbs. Glad Manny didnt. Flagg has a Stephen Tulloch comp which i like alot.
It's my opinion on Wingo i like him. **** the coaches across the country's opinion as well. If Wingo would text Manny "WYD" right now he'd leave his family at the kitchen table. lol

Without pads or OL coming to knock his head off...

The toughest part about making that transition is developing the LB instincts to read the OL (to see if he is coming out to run block or drop into a pass block set) then into the backfield and locate the ball, shed a block and make a tackle or drop back into your zone or pick up your man in coverage all in a split second.

Most guys making that transition take too long to make those split second decisions and get caught in the wash and blown up by OL, and never make an impact no matter what type of amazing athlete they seem to be in shorts.

That is why I like to see kids projected by everyone to play LB in college to actually play it their Sr year.

It would be selfish of the coaches at STA to stunt his development at his future position just b/c they want to keep him on the edge.

Get him some snaps at both, but start working with him on becoming a LB.

Not to mention that his film isn’t even that amazing for a rush end (Sam Brooks is way better IMO).

And I hav felt this way since way before he became a ****.

Safeties transition to LBs much better than DEs do.

The have similar assignments and reads, who can cover well.

They just have to now make those reads from closer to the line, and have to make decisions quicker.

DEs just have to beat the guy in front of them, with no reads or instincts required.

Big difference IMO.

Major difference. PA now isn’t just about jumping up to knock down a pass but it can cost you 6 if you go for the fake.

Great interview with the young man. Man I don't know why he is trippen about Maryland making him a better man, that program is GARBAGE and the HC has been poopoo as a head coach at New Mexico oh man that was tur-rible. I am thinking as the season plays out an Maryland tanks I hope Hyppolite see's the light and that UM's staff steps up the flip effort for this young man.

That is always eye-popping speed for a LB.

If he enrolls in MD for December it will be just in time for dreary winter in College Park. That has to be one of the most lackluster campuses and must really be depressing in Winter. Not a big fan of UMd.

Sure, I understand some kids want to try something new for college, but I don't know about 3-4 years in College Park.
